Taking Pictures with Canon A85

Im having a tough time taking good quality pictures with said camera.

In daylight and night time, the pictures don't seem to turn out like the 'CLICK & Brag' sectioned ones. I understand my detailing process will be a big factor in how the car looks, but even when looking at the background it is not nearly as clean/rich.

So if anyone has any experience with the canon camera, could you please give me a hand in taking some good quality pictures and avoiding newbie mistakes?

Thanks.

I don't have experience with the A85, but I would say...

Turn the sharpness all the way up, have the quality at Fine/Sharp, take pics at max resolution. Use the Auto function to take pics. You may need to touch the EV value a bit to make the pics brighter. I know that my Sony takes pics a touch darker than real life at 0.0 EV, so I dial it up 1 notch to 0.3

Then just resize once you upload them. Some photo programs have an "Auto-Enhance" function that cleans up the colors a bit.

Hope this helps.

Use a tripod. Also enable the timer so the camera takes its own shots --good if you don't have steady hands.

Remember lighting is what makes photos.

The A85 is a good camera so you shouldn't have any problems taking quality pictures.

Hmm. Enable the timer?

I am putting the camera on the 'P' setting (beside Auto), and going from there.

Exp I set to 1/3.
AWB is set on AUTO - Have options here such as Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten, Flourescent, etc
Drive mode - No clue Whats goin on here
ISO Speed is set on Auto
Effects are off - Vivid, Neutral, Low Sharpening, Sepia etc are options here
Evaluative, Center Weighted, Spot --> No Clue what the deal is here
and I have it on Max resolution and Sharpness.

I can keep my hands steady for a while if need be, but I know a tri-pod would be ideal.

Oh yeah, dial your ISO down. Mine is set as low as it goes.
