Deleted CG Extreme Shine Review
I just read DavidB's post entitled BrandX in the News forum. I assume this is why themightytimmah's CG Extreme Shine review has been deleted from yesterday.
My question is why was the entire post deleted. Couldn't just the offending Hatfield vs. McCoys posts have been deleted?
I found themightytimmah's review to be informative and insightful. It wasn't his fault that the discussion following his post deteriorated into something that has been deemed unacceptable.

I was wondering the same thing. David, could you please allow discussion about CG products but merely delete the noninformative posts and claims. I found that topic to be rather interesting until a few members started up. I would like to hear more about the CG products and how they COMPARE to other products. Thanks for listening David.

This is the third time a CGs post has been shut-down or deleted. I just don't understand why some people can't leave well enough alone. Without a doubt, CGs products work well and are here to stay. There are many of us who like them, we all think they are equivalent to other well known brands and I, for one, will continue to use them over such brands and would love to be able to discuss and review these products w/o being harassed by others that may or may not be influenced by other distributors. Let's get it together and stop with the childish back-and-forth. There is no need to get angry over things that are uncertain posted by people you don't know. It's wasted energy better spent doing something productive.

I have to echo all of the above. I'm also using some CG products and some PB's as well. I really enjoy the reviews, and find them very informative. David, can we please keep the reviews and comparisons.

I'm missing why Autopia has singled out several Autopians for making comparisons between product lines. Several different members have chosen to make the comparisons and systematically they are being deleted and now told that kind of discusion is not allowed. I'm not sure what rule we are all breaking, in fact I remember David encouraging this discusion in another post about boutique brands. I think saying people have something to prove is being a little paranoid, I think people were following the free exchange of information, at least that's what I was doing. Here's what David wants from Autopia and I thought everyone was following this except the closed minded individuals who are product obsessed:
"From the beginning, the very nature of Autopia has been to explore, share knowledge and enjoy a community of like-minded people. That means we do evaluate products, we do compare products, we do ask the tough questions, and we do document facts as knowledge. That’s all well and good until it turns into the Autopia version of the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s." David B.
People who were making the comparisons aren't the people trying to make it a fued, they were just sharing information in the spirit of Autopia, IMO. I have seen no ill intent from any of them, in fact the last post was by a product loyalist who found he can get his favorite product cheaper. Now this type of thing is banned here because of a few repected members don't like the posts and make trouble. Perhaps someone high up can clarify why making certain comparisons are no longer tolerated so the rest of us can follow the rules w/o being singled out as being trouble makers.

Burlyq,
Here's my take on this. I don't think David is trying to stop any discussion of products whatsoever. Actually, I *think* that he is actually trying to do the opposite of that. He wants Autopia to be unbiased and a place everyone can share information and experiences. The problem comes in when a few select members try to censor the forum (in their own way) and disrupt the flow of discussion.
The recent actions took place because of the persistent disruption and offtopic comments made by the same members over and over.
In a nutshell, I would think that as long as you discuss products while preserving the original topic, and without any kind of personal attack, you will be fine.
The thing that a few of us keep forgetting is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that opinion may or may not be the same as yours. This is the beauty of an open discussion board, multiple views and opinions.

If comparisions can be made and discussed in the absence of rude remarks, blatant flames, and kindergarten-esque quarrels, there is no problem with them at all.
