I Need a Good Comeback to: "You're going to wear the finish off the car."

Like probably many of you, I wash or wax or polish or clean something on my car at least three times per week, usually more. I live in a neighborhood where a lot of people like to take walks. Well, people who walk often will see me outside doing my thing to my car and, without sounding mean (trying to make a joke), will say, You're going to wear the finish off that car you keep washing and waxing it so much. I usually chuckle at their extremely cliché joke and continue about my business. But now I'm starting to get annoyed by these trite attempts at humor. So I'd like to have a comeback. I don't want to sound mean or make fun of the person, but I would like to say something clever back to those who don't understand those who take pride in the appearance of their automobiles.

Any suggestions?

I usually just smile and wave.....they probably don't know that you've heard the line a gazillion times.... (unless of course its the same person)

Sometimes, i call them up and make them walk around and look at my car from different angles and say something like: "now isn't that the shineist silver car you've ever seen ?"

I gotta joke for you:

"You're gonna wear the paint right off of that car!"

"Go f*ck yourself!"

If they say something like,

"You're going to wear the finish off that car you keep washing and waxing it so much."

You might try-

"Didn't I tell you, I'm a professional." Then give them a wink!

For the repeat offender's-

"You forget, I'm a professional."

or-

"Infinity G35's don't have that problem."

or-

"What products did you use that faded out your car like that."

All in good fun right.

I couldn't do it in 9 years on my Honda, what makes you think I'd do it in a year with my Mazda?

While I love the "Go F--- yourself" comeback, I think I'll stick with the friendly smile, chuckle, and wave while thinking to myself, "Go f--- yourself!"
