Wifes and snowblowers = bad situation

First rewind to a couple of weeks ago..... My wife cleared our laneway with the snowblower a few weeks ago after a snowstorm. The snow was wet and heavy. She parked it in our "unheated" shed with the mouth, augers, throat and chute completely packed with wet snow. In other words....she didn't clear it before putting it anyways. She surprised me with a nice and clean laneway when i came home from work. Bless her heart !

Fastforward to yesterday.....we had a late winter storm that dumped about 1 foot of snow up here yesterday and very cold (way below freezing). I came home early to avoid traffic (too late for that - very nasty ride home ) to clear my laneway.

I went to the shed and pulled out the snowblower thinking "you better start or i'll beat you with a Louisville Slugger". It has a tendency to be hard to strat (pull start). Anyways, to my surprized it started right up on the 1st pull (wow - i thought things are looking up)

I put it into gear and pulled back on the auger handle. All i got was a strained grinding noise, a burnt rubber smell and no snow being projected....i thought...what the heck? I turned it off to go check the front to see ice completely packed from one end to the other of the parts mentioned above. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !

I'm thinking consipary here...i'm pretty sure that it's all part of my wife's diabolical plan to get back at me for never learning how to operate the washer and dryer effectively.

I parked the snowblower in the kitchen on a bunch of towels to thaw it out. The kitchen was the best choice of limted heated spaces for me to use. A couple of hours later we had supper thinking pleasant thoughts about my now nice and clear laneway.

Bob

Wow, who'da thunk that you had to defrost your snowblower after using it?! I've been thinking about buying one. I guess I could put a space heater in front of it after use,eh? (Set on LOW, of course.)

You'd be fine if you just clear it of any snow before putting it away. Especially the wet heavy stuff

When I think of snow blower, I think of leaf blower. Apparently this isn't the case. Do you have a picture of this thing?

Just keep saying: "It's the thought that counts".

Here is a representative depiction of a snow blower:

Wow, that's a beast!

I've never used one. I don't think any of my neighbors even own one! We get snow here maybe 2x a year, and it's all under 6" each time.

They're kinda fun to use. They're like a big PACMAN for snow

i have a brother who lives in juneau, ak. he is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. but when it comes to his snowblower just step aside and let the kid work. i have seen him stand at the door just waiting to go out and blow the snow. nobody and i mean nobody messes with his blower. for the very reason that Silverbelle04 mentioned. favors are nice but they have their costs, too. he has to go to work at all hours of the nite and needs to get out of his driveway at a moments notice

Damn, you had me cringing at the 2nd paragraph.

My mom lopped her finger off in a snowblower when I was kid and has not touched one since...funny thing was years later, when one of their old, senile neightbors was moving and they were helpig her they found the finger wrapped up in her freezer...the neighbors comment was "oh yes, I found that after they took you to the hospital and I guess I forgot to give it to you"true story!
