Cool! Thanks! Very nice of you. Well, we are getting an Imac to replace an older PC
Do have an 18 months old Dell laptop, seems to be working well, though a bit slower maybe?

Yeah, that happens with windows computers. (one of the reasons I moved to a linux computer) Have you cleaned out any unused programs and defragmented? Also, you can open the task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and uncheck any unneeded apps that start up automatically at boot.

Re: If anyone needs computer help, PM me
My old lap top died so a friend gave me her old Compaq desk top. The computer had AOL on it but I uninstall AOL. I tether to my Droid for internet. However, I cannot get Gmail or Hotmail to load. When I do, the computer comes to the screen that comes up when you lose internet connection. When I put in a different internet address, I go to that site fine. Someone told me that when you uninstall AOL, some AOL files stay on the computer and those files are probably messing things up when I try to log onto Gmail or Hotmail for the sole purpose for me to reload AOL and go back to that service. Sounds a little far fetched to me.. Does that sound possible or is it complete nonsense?

Re: If anyone needs computer help, PM me
This is a nice suggestion, but I would not recommend it for someone unless they know what they are doing. They may disable a windows process or a program they use and then have to call someone cause they dont know why their computer or program doesn't work any more.
Also, should be noted, the startup tab in the task manager only shows in Windows 7. Older versions need to run msconfig. This is the Original Autopia Forum for Auto Detailing Enthusiasts. Accept no substitute or clone!

I had this same problem when I teetered my droid. Its due to being a secure https page most likely. Some tethering programs do not allow for https connections.
The program I use is PDAnet. The paid version allows for https connections, but your phone must be rooted.
