Re: The Workout/Weight Loss Thread

I joined Planet Fitness this summer. I am getting it in 3x /week. I switched to once a week per bodypart to twice one week, then once the next. (2 parts each day to 3 parts each day). I have to figure out my diet and ratios now. I would like to loose 15 pounds.

I load up the bag in the morning and stop on the way home. I go 3x /week. Find a time that works for you. I can walk to the gym so that helps too.

Re: The Workout/Weight Loss Thread

Just got to go and do it!!! going one or two times is easy.. its going on a daily/weekly basis is hard. Once you stop going say... Oh I dont feel like it and I skip 1 day... Then it might mess up the whole weeks regiment. For me... I'm more motivated b/c I'm applying to be a Police Officer. But for everyone else, living a healthy lifestyle not only benefits you but it also benefits others around you.

Go for hikes around lakes, mountains, parks etc. Those are always fun.

Ever have an emergent situation where your fitness literally saved you from death or very serious injury? Gets your attention, and reminds you that "survival of the fittest" isn't just a catch-phrase.

Anyhow, I'm "just like that" The exercise and proper diet are simply how I live. I sure don't consider myself a "health nut", and I can enjoy my share of unhealthy indulgences, but I simply won't be out of shape physically any more than I'd be careless intellectually.

If I don't keep at it, my performance drops off (not just in the gym; I lead a very active day-to-day life), I don't feel/look as good, and I...well, I just know I'm not being the best I can be. Yeah, I know that sounds corny, but I hold myself to some mighty high standards.

And on a more practical note, if I don't do the cardio at least every third day, it gets *so* much harder that I'm painfully reminded of the cost of slacking off, but good! If I get out of shape, I'll have to buy a whole new wardrobe, and that'd be one seriously expensive proposition

Plus, I find that if I start the day with some think-I'm-gonna-die cardio, or some heavy weight work, whatever else the day throws at me is a cakewalk by comparison; I *know* I can handle whatever comes my way because every exercise session reinforces my sense of efficacy.

HOW TO: Calculate Your Daily Calorie Needs

It is all in the calories, eat whatever ever you want..to a degree.... and as long as your taking in less calories than your body needs a day you will loose weight, guaranteed!

Re: The Workout/Weight Loss Thread

mrclrider- A caluclator like that would be a good start; IMO most people don't have a clue what they really need.

I don't agree with the idea of eating whatever you want though. I process protein/carb/fat calories very differently, and some people (e.g., my wife) are incredibly carb-sensitive, experiencing a major insulin response over stuff that has little such effect on me. She can eat a *LOT* more protein and fat calories without gaining weight than she can carb calories, it's just how her metabolism works.
