You have got to be kidding me
Ok guys,
Sorry but I needed to vent.
How much bad news can one person get!? First my mother and my brother lose their jobs. My brother that lost his job might lose the now new house they were building. He has a month to find one. My mom is diagnosed with colon cancer. My windshield gets cracked on the highway. I get diagnosed with Tendinitis. I find out that my uncle crashed his semi and punctured his lung and was air lifted to a Dayton Hospital. Someone tried to steal my rims. I get diagnosed with high cholesterol. My other uncle get sent to Poland by Immigration.
Honestly, I don't know how much more I can emotionally take here... I can't think of anything GOOD that has happened in my life in the past year. Seems like it's just getting worse and worse...
Sorry guys, end the rant.

Re: You have got to be kidding me
Hang in there brother. It's been that kinda year for me too. Won't go into details here but actually broke down on Sunday for the first time since I can remember. I can't sleep, I can barely eat, and things don't look to be getting any better.
Sometimes you just have to realize that being able to open your eyes and see the dawn means you're more blessed than many.

Ouch. I honestly can't think of anything to say to comfort you but I really hope things start going well for both of you soon.
Stiffdogg,
did they at least catch it in the early stages?

Re: You have got to be kidding me
My only thought is to look skyward and ask The Boss to help all through this as well as those you know that are having problems. Ask help for them first and for you second.

Re: You have got to be kidding me
Thanks guys. It's pretty tough to keep the head held high when things just doesn't seem to get better.
Tris: Are you referring to my moms colon cancer? If so, yes; Luckily they caught it in the polyps (sp?) stage and were able to remove them but they did remove I believe 12" of her colon. And luckily it didn't spread to other organs.

Re: You have got to be kidding me
I know a lot of people (myself included) who have hit a lot of hard times which seem like harsh coincidences, but the fact of the matter is with the state of our general society and economy, stress tends to wear on us physically as well as emotionally and mentally.
I just hold strong and look at my 6 y/o daughter and smile. I could lose my job, my savings, and my health, but looking at my daughter brushing her teeth after taking a bath right now makes me smile.

Yes, I was referring to your mother's colon cancer. That's a bit of good news...

Re: You have got to be kidding me
This too will pass my friend.
When life seemed to be at the lowest point for me, I just thought of others who really had it tough. I was just happy to wake up every morning and breath.

Re: You have got to be kidding me
This is why I love doing what I do for a living. Everyone I know with a "Job" is sooo stressed out not knowing if this is their last day or not. Loosing wages, health insurence, the whole 9. My dad lost his job about 2 weeks ago, my cousin got his notice this his plant is done and his wife got notified she will have to take a huge paycut just to keep her job. I wake up and realise... mmm I just have to go wash some cars today LOL. Try not to let the bad things get to you. Everyone is getting slammed by it right now. Gotta find the positives in the dark moments. I'm not getting rich by any means but working 2 days a week right now is paying the bills just fine for me. It really does get better.

Re: You have got to be kidding me
Thanks guys, the comments really do mean a lot.
Luckily I work for Battelle which is a federally funded company, so no lay offs at all.

You're lucky. The state of Florida just mandated pay cuts for all state workers making over $45k. Think about that. You're scraping by in this economy, maybe a single parent, maybe with a kid or two. Oldest in college. And although you earn less than 50% on average of your private working counterparts, you just lost $100-$500 off the top ever month.
Last year budget cuts were in the 10-20% range with thousands of layoffs. My department lost nearly 30 positions statewide out of 800 employees.
It's bad man, and honestly, many of us saw the 2% pay cut as a relief because it was looking like more a month ago. At least we get to keep our low paying jobs. It's sad when I am a seasoned professional with current skills and I am detailing cars and doing other things to make ends meet.
