Tip Your Barber?
Do you guys tip? If so, how much? Say your barber charges $16.00. Would you give him an even $20.00?
I currently don't tip, but I'm wondering if I should start. If I don't, does that make me look bad?

Re: Tip Your Barber?
Holy crap! Where are you guys getting your hair cut? Been watching too much Queer Eye For The straight Guy? LOL
My barber charges $10 and I give him $12. It took me forever to find a barber I liked. This guy is an old school barber. Just a tiny place with 2 chairs.

Re: Tip Your Barber?
I used to go to the barber, but now I just cut my own hair. It takes a little longer and took a while to learn how to properly shave to a "high and tight", but after about a year of cutting it and experimenting, I have it down to a science. It's really not that difficult, and I save myself the $22.00 a month that I was paying, plus now I actually touch it up every week.

Re: Tip Your Barber?
In answer to the OP, yes, tip your barber. For $!6 I'd give $19 or $20.
I also pay $10 and leave $12.00.
Does it make you look bad if you don't tip?
Yes.

Re: Tip Your Barber?
Looks like I should tip then. I came across this on the net:
"The difference between a regular job and the jobs that require tips is that they are service jobs, and they are called service jobs because they are serving you. They personally and intimately effect you."
So, here's another question: Where do we draw the line? I have no problem deserving good behavior/work with a tip, however, I'm not going to be throwing my money around all day long tipping every one I see. What about my auto mechanic, my dry cleaner, my daughter's piano teacher, my mail carrier, my plumber, etc.. In a way you could say these all are serving me, but should I tip them? Call me stingy, but I'd say no. Well, 2nd that, I would tip the paino teacher. We just started with this person 3 weeks ago. I'd tip this person because they're doing it dirt cheap, and it's a one on one thing, you know?

Re: Tip Your Barber?
Mine charges 30, I give her 40. Been doing it for years.
It doesn't hurt that she's a beautiful Vietnamese girl and will massage my head for 15-20 minutes while she's washing my hair. Feels amazing.
I always figure it's better than a lap dance, costs less, and I can tell my wife without getting in trouble.
