Well...its time to get married.
I have been dating my gf now for 1 year and things have been going great. I know she is the one for me....but this weekend sealed the deal. We exchanged gifts for our anniversary and she got a 3/4 karat diamond journey pendant. For me, about 3 months ago I was showing her a PC with some polishes and stuff...well she bought the whole thing. She got me a PC, pads, Prima polishes, and a Tub to hold it all in. She also got me some microfiber towels.
ahh...is this heaven?
joe
ps- she is from Iowa

Your girl DEFINATELY knows how to please a man if she got you all those stuff knowing you'll love it. She's a keeper then. Congrats.

Let's think rationally though. Marriage is forever. That's a bit much, you know?

Re: Well...its time to get married.
sounds good...congrats......
i got married in september to my girlfriend of a while....i knew she was the one for sure when we started talking about marieage and she agreed that we could get married at a place on the water and use MY BOAT as our Limo home....well it happened...my boat was there at the wedding...we went for a blast during the wedding and then tokk a nice blast home....i even got to fly it off a cruiser wake on the way home with her in her weddin dress......woooooohhhhh hooooooo.....and she even suprised me with a grooms cake that matched my boat......
Grooms cake...
in the boat on the way home...
climbing down a ladder during the wedding to go for a ride...
if she is part of what you do as a hobby and doesnt try to hamper you being you then by all means PUT A RING ON IT......i have been down the road of being with a woman that hates detailing and hates boating and she made my life hell....now my wife loves the boat and gets a kick out of it when people compliment her on her car i couldnt ask for more...

Re: Well...its time to get married.
she is the one for me....i know it like nothing else I have ever known for ever. The thread is a joke and an over exaggeration. PC or not she is the girl for me. She encourages me, supports me, and allows me to be me. I make a very good living doing what I do, and I decided I wanted to go back to school and make a change in my career making 45% of what I make now. She supported me 100% picked up the slack where I couldnt. I am truly blessed to have her in my life.
The very fact that she cared enough to pay attention to what I was showing her when she could care less says something. But to remember what I showed her, and order it exactly how I would have wanted it....thats a whole new level.
Congrats ghost! looks like a good day

Come on, don't rain on the parade. As soon as she gets him changed around to how she thinks he ought to be everything will be perfect. Especially when he stops wasting all his time in the garage polishing and spends quality time with her watching Sex and the City and Oprah

i think some on here feel that a year is relatively a short amount of time to know someone before marrying them, and maybe being engaged for a little while longer would benefit to just make sure (plus with the hard economic times, you don't want money to be an issue as hopefully the economy will get better in a few years or sooner). but... if you truly believe in your heart she is the one, then go for it!

Yes and no... I think that depends a lot on the ages of those involved. I was 31 years old when I got married and knew my wife slightly less than a year on our wedding day.
Our 17th anniversary is coming up in a few months so I'll let you know if it is going to work out or not. I sure hope so because my step-daughter turned out awesome, graduated from UCSD with honors and married a super great guy that I respect the heck out of.
BTW, we were planning a nice wedding, trying to pick a date that was going to work for everyone, blah, blah, blah...finally said skroo it and eloped on July 4th!
Our thoughts were that the wedding was about Us, Our Vows and God, not who we invited. We plan to do a nice thing for our 20th anniversary and renew our vows.

Re: Well...its time to get married.
Congrats. I have been married now for 6 months and love every moment of it...and don't let little disagreements discourage you. Marriage is a two way street. You have to give and take equally.
PS: TL forgot to add Greys Anatomy (yuck) in with Opra...lol I can't complain, though..she still lets me play in the garage whenever I want.

Re: Well...its time to get married.
Congrats. I have been married since October and so far, so good. My wife appears to be a keeper.
Oh, BTW, it was October, 1971.
Keep the lines of communication open and you guys'll be OK.
Whenever we have an argument, and it goes on for more than a day, I think to myself, "Is this the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with?" My answer is always "Yes," and that puts the current disagreement into perspective for me.
You'll be fine.
We knew each other for about a month before we got married.

Re: Well...its time to get married.
Wow... a month? I've been with my gf for over 2 years already, we moved in together after like a year and I thought that was moving extremely fast.
Then again, we're both 22ish, and relatively mature for our ages(I think so at least), so yeah
