Re: Homeowner v. HOA Parking Enforcement
I've had my share of run-ins with these HOA types. Once I had two cars taken right out of my drive way because they did not have the registration sticker applied. I was sick that week and did not get a chance to put the thing on. Thay snacth both cars at about 4am. I am all for rules, but if you are going to do something like that then make sure to check the actual registration first. The HOA is not law. Believe me they got an earful.

Re: Homeowner v. HOA Parking Enforcement
I also live in a HOA neighborhood (in AZ too!!!) and it sucks!!! They enforce these stupid rules that prohibits people from doing what they want to do in their homes. You own your own property but can't do the things you want... How stupid is that???
Also, I have this complaint about my neighbor and they just don't want to help. I pay them a stupid monthly fee and they don't do anything at all!!!!
edit: can you please post the original link as I would like to read the thread. Thanks!

The original link is here:
VWvortex Forums: So my Audi got booted, and this is what I'm going to do about it....discuss
as posted on my original post.
The Cliff Notes version (of the first half of the drama) is posted here:
VWvortex Forums: So my Audi got booted, and this is what I'm going to do about it....discuss
about half way down the page.
The OP has since gotten a hold of the HOA contract with APS and posted it on the thread. The media has been contacted and it is working its way around the internet with over 100,000 views so far.
Hope you feel like reading. It has now gone over 40 pages!

Re: Homeowner v. HOA Parking Enforcement
thats a nice loophole.
i like that he contacted the authorities first to make sure that moving the car on dollies was indeed legal.
he handled that really well.

Re: Homeowner v. HOA Parking Enforcement
Good. I hope he gets some nice video of them coming, tails tucked between their legs, to pick up their boot. And then post it up on youtube for us all to enjoy.

Re: Homeowner v. HOA Parking Enforcement
To heck with those gated communities, I'll stay in my little hick town up North. Kudos to the Audi owner for standing up to these idiots.

Re: Homeowner v. HOA Parking Enforcement
I understand the point of HOAs, but I think it can be taken too far. A friend of mine lives in one; I chuckled reading some of the more stringent rules for his community.
I think it's ridiculous to need a parking pass if you are a homeowner. I understand that some rental properites do this, but not even my apartment complex bothers with it.

It looks like they closed the thread over at VWvortex Forums, so if anyone finds out if the guy who got booted is posting updates anywhere else let us know.

Re: Homeowner v. HOA Parking Enforcement
In case anyone wants to read just the Audi owners posts:
The Parking Enforcement Forum - View topic - I AM DOLLY MAN UPDATES THREAD - Audi Booted By APS
Frankly, I applaud the Audi owner's actions.
APS was far out of line with a "1 strike and you get the boot & $140 fine" enforcement practice and I can only hope that more than a few vehicles that were improperly booted sue APS for refunds.
