I was merely making a point that the guy should be allowed to do whatever he wants for FUN, and not be criticized for it, especially coming from this site. You know, I can see something like this seen as rather excessive on something like, you know, the Better Homes and Gardens site, but here?
I don't see this as an "issue" of whether 50 is "worth it" or not. I would think that most people on this site would already KNOW the answer to that question, without having to run it into the ground (how about a rest there?). So, other that that, what is the issue with then? That's why I brought the one sentence Zaino question in there, which was apparantely to much for some to handle. lol
If we're not allowing detailing to be fun anymore without fear of criticisms, what are we doing here? | No Mike. My point was that it appeared to me that you were going to "beat the Zaino drum" and turn this into a why are we bashing Zaino thread. As I described above, if the person wants to put 50 layers on an LSP on this car by all means do it. If he enjoys doing it then certainly thats what detailing is all about.
My point is would you really be able to tell the diff between 10...20...30 coats. If so, I would love to see pics. I could put a sign next to my 350Z saying I have 10 coats. Would anyone be able to tell if that was true or not??...doubtful....
My comments were meant to avoid this thread turning into another potential bash of a product line as stated in your "potential Zaino beat down".

I really don't get that mindset. | That's fine, but maybe to him it is cause for celebration. If one of his personal goals of the hobby was to get to 50 coats, then great, I can understand that, he achieved his goal and is happy. I wouldn't have any problem if he or anyone else did 50 or 100 coats of Zaino, NXT, P21S, Collinite, or anything else. I know I couldn't possibly do 50 coats of something, so I guess if I ever did, I would celebrate too!
I probably couldn't tell the difference, from a picture on the net, in 1, 5, or 50 coats, but that's not for me to judge. I just appreciate someone who has the time and effort to enjoy their hobby. I could more than likely make a car look similar with 1 coat of AW, but that's not the point IMO. He achieved something fun and a goal for himself, and I can share in his excitement, even though I personally don't have more than 2-3 coats of anything on my car. But I can't speak for this guy (who I think was a member here at one time). I don't know his exact motive or the situation or anything...so I'm just guessing why he's excited...

Whether or not the 50 layers make a difference is a matter of debate - well, it isn't really, I think we are all pretty much convinced we've long going into the law of diminishing returns there, but at the end of the day, if someone wants to layer 50, or 5,000,000 layers of something on their car, thats up to them
My Volvo is looking pretty damn sweet with 5 layers of Z2 and Z5, topped with Z8... just going to wash and top up with Z8 every so often now, though given how easy the Z8 is to use and how nice it smells, it may be getting this every wash!! LOL | Dave, Along with your stunning C&Bs and excellent advice, we also get common sense.
Thank you!

I believe that later that year that he applied the 50th layer, he stripped it off and started over. He told me that doing his car is great "mind relaxation" after performing othopaedic surgeries.
Hey....it's his car.......let him take care of it however he wants. The thing sure looks good!

Mike (2 vs. 50.....who cares?) | After all that work, he stripped it and started over??? Who, in their right mind, would put all that work into a car, achieving close to perfection, and then *start over*? You certainly wouldn't catch *me* doing something like that! No, sir! This bottle of IPA i have in my hand is just for.... ummm... *cleaning windows*, yeah, that's it! Now if you'll excuse me, I have some.. umm... "Windows to clean"!

Honestly, some people take the Zaino thing a bit too far. At some point it becomes a waste of money and polymers.
