are the high gas prices effecting the way you live?

so with gas prices close to $5 a gallon and rising (heard on the news the other day it could go up to $6 a gallon by summer), are the high gas prices effecting the way you live? are there certain things you can or can't do anymore as a result, etc.?

Well not right now, but it might if it continues to increase. It is currently at $3.89/gal. Not as high like in most states, but still a little too high for a gallon of fuel.

Re: are the high gas prices effecting the way you live?

I cant masht he pedal in my truck anymore. poor v8 =(.

But in all seriousness, I was watching the news this morning before soccer and an analyst said that the gas price bubble was going to burst soon ( or at least thats what it looks like). I dont want to put all my faith in him, but I really hope that it does actually "burst."

For me, I try and limit when I drive vs. when I can carpool/ catch a ride with someone else. Or me and my buddies pitch in for a full tank of gas for my car and we all go somewhere. But these gas prices are starting to kinda make me angry now.

Re: are the high gas prices effecting the way you live?

It has for me. I haven't bought anything 'extra' for a long time other than my TV. I just bought a house last year so the budget was pretty tight already. I can think of all sorts of better things I could be buying other than gas.

Re: are the high gas prices effecting the way you live?

well, gettin 8 mpg, it sure does hurt me. Ya, i only drive now if i really need to. i ride with my fiance most of the time since she has a more gas friendly vehicle. but ive cut down on driving a lot. as far as "extra" spending, that is non existent now a days.

I keep it under 70 now thats about it. Low 20's MPH (mixed city and hwy) is about as good as I can expect from my V8 though.

Re: are the high gas prices effecting the way you live?

nope. just taking more money out of my pocket. C6 = 14 mpg, CTS = 20 mpg (DD) and avalanche = 14 mpg.

for all you young guys its no different than in the earily to mid 1970's when gas doubled from .40 to .80 a gallon. just different number's, same hike.

Re: are the high gas prices effecting the way you live?

I dont drive anywhere anymore...

ill fly to vegas next time instead of making the drive...its $50 from my place to laughlin one way...southwest has it for 49 round trip...take into consideration my time, and its well worth it to fly there in 40 min versus drive for 4 hours+...

I dont go out with friends in different areas anymore because it costs me about $10-15 just to get to and from the places I used to go (takes 15+ minutes just to get to a freeway where I live in HB) - the drive from HB to fullerton takes about 40 min and costs me about 8-10 each way bucks

so yeah, I miss out on some good times, and stay in more nowadays....sucks, but still trying to buy a house in a year or so as well means i need to pinch a few pennies here and there more often while still having a life!!!

It's affecting everyone whether they realize it or not. The cost of everything is going up.

Re: are the high gas prices effecting the way you live?

It isn't rocket science. The rest of the world pays $6 to $10 a gallon, it was only a matter of time before they made us pay the same prices.

Exxon made 27 billion (PROFIT) in 2006 - raised their prices even more and made over 40 billion in 2007 - THAT IS OVER $2000 A SECOND.

I payed $4.27 last time a gallon (93) and total came in at $56.

Still doing ok.

Re: are the high gas prices effecting the way you live?

PS: We went to the movies the other night and tickets were $11.00 each.

Popcorn - $6.75

That is why we have a nice home theater system at home and NETFLIX.
