Ditto.

Back when I was searching, I remember Samsung consistently being the market leader for LCD and the prices weren't too bad (compared to the alikes of Sony and such).

Re: PLEASE help choosing LCD TV!

I have always believed in not spending today's dollars on yesterday's technology. Get 1080p/120hz.

I bought a Samsung 46" - 1080p LCD last year and couldn't be happier with it. That is currently in the master bedroom and I have a 1080i Sony 50" plasma in the home theater (5 year old TV!) still going strong. Samsungs have very good brightness and color rendition (as best as you can get with an LCD before looking to plasma for deeper colors).

I would be willing to bet that by the time 1080p takes over, you could've bought a new and better set for less than the premium you paid for your TV over a perfectly good 720p TV.

Re: PLEASE help choosing LCD TV!

My brother-in-law has this Samsung (Amazon.com: Samsung LNT5271F 52-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV: Electronics) and it's incredible looking. This and the smaller 46" (Amazon.com: Samsung LNT4671F 46-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV: Electronics) are last years models, so good deals are to be had. I'm hoping to grab a low-cost refurb when one comes available.

Re: PLEASE help choosing LCD TV!

Thanks for your help fellas. I can only choose from the list I posted.

Looks like I will go for the 37" Samsung.

None of them are 1080i and 120hz. They are 760 / 60hz. But I won't be using Blue Ray, games, etc...

Hey, it's for "free" since I am using my points. I'll go look at them first as Best Buy or something.

Takes over?

I feed my computer into the Samsung and display 1900x1200.

My PS3 also displays Bluray in 1080p.

What "taking over" are you waiting for? Broadcast 1080p? Some of us 1080p owners don't only use the sets for broadcast use.

The price of LCD panels are always dropping. I am an early adopter, always have been, yes, us early ones always pay more.

Re: PLEASE help choosing LCD TV!

Again, I can only select from that list, none of which is 1080 or 120hz.

Re: PLEASE help choosing LCD TV!

I admit I did not read the response but it's TV only...no games, etc, why not consider a plasma ?
Panasonic if they have that in the rewards programs.
Pioneer Kuro is better....and would be my 1st choice, sans membership point or not.....

That's the only ones I can choose from. That 42" Toshiba is a nice size but I haven't read anything good about them compared to Samsung.

From what Ive read so far, it looks like the 37-inch Samsung LN37A450. I'll go check it out in the store.

Re: PLEASE help choosing LCD TV!

In order to get what you want, not what they offer, you could consider getting the unit that's worth the most and selling it on eBay. Then take the money from the sale and get what you want.

This would be time consuming of course, but it may be worth it.

Re: PLEASE help choosing LCD TV!

well if what you have to choose from isn't 120hz for lcd I would lean toward plasma. the 120hz makes all the difference.
