What's up with sponsors on the home page

What's up with the sponsor ads on the side of the home page?

There is an ad for some spray that you put over your plates so they are invisible to cameras. What's next? Billy Mays and his little mini swirl remover or his wash sponge with built in soap? How about the Dent Wizard?

We spend time here laughing and mocking this sort of made in China gizmo crap and now it is pasted on the home page.

Maybe I'm out of line, but it is not in spirit with the community here. I know bills need to be paid but I think it is sacrificing the original integrity and intent of the community.

Just food for thought as I was reading the forums munching on a turkey burger at work.

Yeah, my Norton ad-blocking seems to be taking them out, too.

Re: What's up with sponsors on the home page

At home it is blocked with my FireFox and HOSTS file I have on my machine.

But at work, I have a stand alone PC with IE that hasn't been modified to block anything. This is when I first noticed it.

I've never seen it before and was totally suprised when I saw this advertisment. I thought it was a joke!
