Need to vent, more damage to my truck.
ARGGGGHHHHHH. Goin home last night and a deer decides to run kamikazi at my truck, so I slam on the breaks and my natural insinct was to swerve to miss him. Well, I missed him, but not a mailbox on the side of the road. Mailbox just clipped my rear fender and fender flare. Caused some severe paint scraping and some deep gouging of the paint. Going to need that panel re-painted and a new fender flare as it gouged the plastic.
UGHHHH, like I needed more crap to go wrong lol.
Sorry, I had to vent. Just wish it was *venting* like the Coors Light Commercial.

Re: Need to vent, more damage to my truck.
Bummer.
Always take out the animal instead of doing a hard swerve into the ditch or something. Animal hits are considered an 'Act of God' and therefore do not affect your insurance. However, swerving to miss a deer and thus having an accident is going to be considered a collision and it will affect your rates (if you claim it).
I've tagged two deer and wiped out two trucks (an S10 and S15). The first thing the adjuster said is "Is there hair on the truck and don't wash it until I see it". I told him that there is hair, blood, guts, and some green slime all down the side. It was pretty obvious that I hit a large animal.
Good luck with the body shop. I dread them because most have a much different idea of 'perfect' than I do.
Oh yeah,

Yeah, I need to get some pics up soon.
The body shop isnt the problem, I have one that does almost perfect work. It's the cost b/c the damage isnt huge enough to claim ($500 deductable anyway lol) but it's to big to let go.

Re: Need to vent, more damage to my truck.
When I'm crusinin at the country side of Jville at night, there's no street lights for about 10 miles, and I have to watch out for deer. Thank God I have HID's. If something like that hits my car, it would be devestating, most likely a total loss.
Sorry about your truck. At least you're ok.

[Note that Accumulator deered his beloved S8 back in '03 and the repairs still bug him]
Brandon01- You're sure having more than your share of tough breaks these days, hope things start looking up.
Good call, choosing the mailbox over the deer; deer impacts can be significant at best and (literally) fatal at worst. You woulda at least been looking at replacing sheetmetal.
I'd rather have to pay for minimal damage than have somebody else write the check for something major. You didn't get hurt, the deer didn't get hurt...pretty good outcome IMO (yeah, I know, easy for me to say when I'm not paying for the repair).
Hope the repairs go well, I'm pretty confident that you know everything to watch out for when it comes to body/paint shop work, so I'm hopeful that this'll soon be nothing more than a good story to tell when people bring up such subjects.
