what cell phone provider do you have?

i have at&t (formerly cingular)

so who do you have?

*need opinions*

i am currently not in a contract and currently pay the following...

$39.99 - 600 anytime minutes / unlimited night & weekends
$4.99 - 200 text messages
+ fees, which make it right under $50 a month.

i was looking at this option as i'm going to have to use the phone a bit more, and this is the plan i was looking at from t-mobile.

$49.99 - 1000 anytime minutes / unlimited night & weekends
$4.99 - 400 text messages
+ fees, which will probably make it around $60 a month.

as you can see, it's $10 more a month, but i get 400 more minutes + 200 more text messages. they also (t-mobile) do ONE YEAR contracts (have to pay more for the phone though) as most other providers don't. i want a flip-phone (the one i was looking at will be $50 and i will have to pay that up front + the $35 activation fee on the first bill) and they offer several which suits my needs (like the one below), as i really only care for the speaker phone and camera (don't really care for the videos, music, etc)...

what do you guys think? by the way, my billing statement closes on the 6th of each month, so i'll need to act fast so i don't get charged a portion another month...

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

I am with Sprint, been with them for 12 years and most of that with the same Motorola StarTAC phone I reluctantly upgraded a little more than a year ago to a Samsung SPH-A900 and then just last week to a Blackberry 8830. I know a lot of people can't stand Sprint but honestly I have never had a problem with them.

Motorola StarTAC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SPH-a900 Sprint - mobile phones SAMSUNG

BlackBerry - BlackBerry 8830

My current plan
$39.95 for 450 anytime minutes.
Unlimited mobile to mobile.
Unlimited night and weekend minutes.
$10.00 for unlimited texting.
$39.95 Blackberry unlimited data plan.
Phone as modem option.

I am "the IT guy" for the Health Science/Nursing department at a local college and use the Blackberry connected to my laptop to access the campus VPN when I am out of the office.

I didn't really need the voice minutes as I think in the past month I have used maybe 20 minutes in all. My previous plan had 350 minutes and I never came close to that ever. The wife and I generally text each other and email access on the Blackberry keeps me in touch with everyone else so I got the cheapest voice plan available at the time.

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

I have Verizon and they are a bit on the pricey but we need to have coverage through out the US (wifes military). We do however hate Verizons web site as it's hard to navigate. They also gave us huge discounts for being military, which was very very nice.
We both also had cingular and we both were unhappy with them. I kept getting unknown phone numbers appear on my statement using up minutes. They did nothing about and kept regurgitating that it's impossible to hack there lines. My wifes just always had bad experiences with there customer service.
I had and LOVED T-Mobil they had good signal while I lived in south Fl and there web site is very very easy to navigate. Like you said they offer 1 yr contracts with decent phone prices and minutes. I'm sure AT&T and Verizon offer 1 yr contract as well you just have to ask about and the prices of phones sky rocket. Also never had a problem when I talked with customer service reps with T-Mobil
When our contracts are up with Verizon we both are switching to T-Mobil. The only draw back with them is they don't offer coverage in my location and work off another providers towers. Thats the only reason I switched. But I'm going back if I can buy a phone/plan on line to use here.

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

Just took a peep at T-mobil site I could have saved $$ with them. Right now we pay an average $89.xx a month (tax included) for (I think) 600 minutes+unlimited text on 1 phone and free nights and weekends. T-Mobil has 700 minutes (2 lines) for $69.99 and for a limited time you can get the 800 minute deal for the same price.
Man I hope we can get back with them.

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

I have sprint/nextel and it is getting to be the worst service possible around. Everyone I know with Sprint/nextel around my area is complaining.

I am going with Verizon now they have an unlimited plan.

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

I have verizon and the coverage is good. Do not get the KRZR though. The interface is slow and the finish is coming off. Chocolates aren't the best either as they break often.

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

I have Alltel. They were the only provider that services our home area AND the vacation spots we frequent. Plus, I am moving out to the boonies next year, and there is an Alltel tower in the area, so they are the only provider that services that area. The main complaint we have with them (and we have had them for 9 years), is that sometimes it can take a day or 2 for us to find out we have voice mails.

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

I just switched after ten years with Cingular. I should have done it long ago as the new service is FAR SUPERIOR. For me, it's Verizon all the way.

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

sprint/nextel= horrible everything, my wife managed nextel for 6 years before the merger I don't think she ever had a customer that didn't hate them.and sprint added ghost charges on my account for a couple years.

cingular/at&t= horrible although you get better coverage(although not as good as verizon by a long shot). customer service is horrible. my wife currently works for them and she validates my claims by owning verizon, enough said.oh and their security firewalls are crap and only in the last couple month starting to implement fraud security measures.

t-mobile= probably a good deal if you have coverage where I live they have little to no coverage or even a store. when I had them for a very brief period I struggled to make a call anywhere, but the prices seem great.

verizon=greatness. coverage is top notch best in the industry they in every aspect kill cingular especially customer service. example being they gave me a $100 credit towards a new phone(it's a thing if you have a two year contract at the end they give you a free phone or $100 credit towards another phone for another 2 year agreement. I dare you to see if cingular does that!)when I didn't even qualify for it, I was on a one year but had the phone for three. the customer service lady I talked to said I didn't qualify and I hung up on her after stating after 3 years I deserve it. not 5 minutes later I get a call on the phone and it's the service rep saying there was a error and I did qualify for the credit. that right there cemented my loyalty to verizon. aside from everything else being better than cingular. and I don't need an I-phone argument either my wife work for cingular and says there not as good as the hype and I believe her...+50 brownie points for believing

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

Verizon, 2100 minutes, 5 phones, runs about $200.00 a month. Great customer service which is as important as the equipment your using. Never had any issues with reception except in mountainous terrain which is expected. Plue I get a 20% discount off services and 15% discount off of equipment.

Re: what cell phone provider do you have?

alot of cell phone companies don't advertise it but they give discounts to people depending if you work for certain companies. you just have to ask.
