Door Defender?

Doordefender car door guards - A magnetic car door guard or truck door guard.

Has anyone used this before? I had a ding taken out of the edge of my rear fender last week. I thought it was impossible for my PDR to get it out, but it's finally gone. This is my 3rd or 4th ding on my car ever, and glad it's only a dent, and no paint chips. I'm dent free again so hopefully I can go another year without one. I'm sure it happened when I was at my grandfathers funeral.

Anyway, my question is... how the hell am I supposed to know where to put the door defender in a spot of the door panel to protect against small cars, or SUV's? It's hard to estimate where the edge of a door would make impact because all veichles are different.
Any sudden impact on a door will cause stress and will probably bend the sheet metal even if you're leaning on it.

I usually park far away and never have to worry about other people, but sometimes it happens from family members. If you look, and scroll on the bottom of the "Order" page you'll see a car covered with their product.

I would also think it would draw a lot of unwanted attention.

Good idea, poor implementation so here's a better solution:
Z3 Bras, StoneGuards, DoorGuards, more

The Doordefender looks really obvious and would be subject to vandalism and theft. The ones from Z3solutions looks more intuitive and natural and don't arouse any suspicions at all.
If the length is wrong, cut them to fit. They come in pairs. Leave them black or have them painted to match. I had mine painted Imola red. They are kept in a cardboard tube in the trunk and used in emergencies.
Placement is determined by a marking line on the same cardboard storage tube. Easy to place/position.
Marring on the paint by use? Nope, I've had them 3 years now and use common sense.
Gentle on, gentle off, clean the contact side before application, no driving with them on.
Would I buy mine again? Yup.
Would I buy those? Nope.

There-in lies the problem. There are many, many people out there who would go out of their way to make sure you got dinged if your car was sporting those guards. (as sad as that is)....

My Trans Am was parked in the very back of a parking lot, with no cars within nearly a football field of me. When I walked out to my car, someone had spit tobacco on the middle of my Ram Air hood. (I knew it was tobacoo because he left his Skoal container as a further rub... "I'LL SHOW YOU!!!"... I'm sure that was his mentality. I don't get it.
