I'm 27 and have been detailing my own car since I was 16. I didn't get into it as an obsession until I bought my first new car at 22. The obsession turned into a hobby for some weekend cash and eventually into an occupation. I've been doing it professionally for two years.

I'll be 40 this year and I just got addicted middle of last year. It's quickly going from a hobby to a side occupation. This may be my calling, who knows.

19. I started when my brother took care of M3, which is now mine. I used to use those brushes that you would connect the water hose to, and never even thought about using 2 buckets. (now i know better). I got sick of the swirls and started with the meguiars 3 step and a vector. --> Upgraded to Meguiars IP & FPII... then --> PC then --> Meguiars PO106FF --> Rotary and I never looked back. Actually started senior year in high school.

The poll looks like it's going to be a standard normal curve with the mean around 30.

Hmmm, statistics? I say it will be fairly normal, but slightly positively skewed. But remember this isn't a simple random sample, rather its voluntary. And maybe not everyone checks this section.

Define "old fart".. age is just a number.

I'm 54, my hair hasn't turned gray, and I keep up with the "kids" at the firehouse and the Fire Academy!

im 18 and have been doing it for a little over 4 years and have recently cracked the ferrari market. It too bad that im gonna lose that when i go to college in august cause ill be too far away for it to be worth while to come home to do a detail. But i'll always continue with my car

22. I have always been obsessed with a clean car (back in high school I think I washed my car every other day). I had always thought I did the "detailing" correctly but man was I wrong.

18. started washing my car regularly last year.

now i wash my car regularly. and do it properly since last may.
