IMO, your weight might have a bigger impact on how the bed feels to you. For a really small person, I've been told it feels like a hard sack of flour in the beginning. I'm a bigger guy so for me, the first night I slept on a foam mattress, when I first laid down and closed my eyes, it felt like my body was rising and floating in mid-air. It was a good and different feeling from what I was used to with normal spring mattresses. For the first time in a long time, I woke up with no back pain. I don't think I can go back to regular mattresses again. Every time I sleep at a hotel now my back kills me when I wake up. | My business partner owns a mattress store franchise ( That Mattress Place - Sealy, Simmons, Tempur-Pedic, Dormia, Englander). I bought a latex foam mattress from him 6 months ago and honestly it was the best 2gs I've ever spent!

My $0.02,

If you have the means.... try a Hastens Mattress.
In the same boat, tried every mattress available to me . Even considered a mattress *sight unseen* but one test on the Hasten, and it sold itself. It's not cheap though....

After our Au Pair brought a bed bug back from NYC, we decided to throw away the custom mattress we had made for her bed. My wife found a replacement, full size, memory foam mattress at overstock.com for $400, shipped for $1. Normally sells for around $1200. Those interested in a memory foam mattress might check out overstock. It arrived yesterday - seems of decent quality. It has to sit for 24-48 hours while it uncompresses so she hasn't tried it yet.

Avoid Sealy traditional matresses at all costs. Will last you about 6 months and then be shot. I honestly don't know how that company is in business. Utter crap.
