I spent a summer working in a large-scale manufacturing plant, and we have bigger problems than CEO's and corruption. Half the guys there were drunks, never showed up on time, didn't finish high school, etc.
The only way we're going to beat this crisis is to create a skilled worker class, of people who have the drive and intelligence to go to college but would rather work a trade. Restore people's trust in "American Made". Sell higher quality products than the Europeans.

Who came back from war and just wanted to earn an honest wage for an honest day's work? Somehow in their quest to have a better life for their children, having a trade somehow became a dishonest way to make a living. I think it had to to with the vicious cycle of the unions and management, which opened the door to what happened in the 70's which led us to where we are now.

Company execs have always been after that, so that should be no surprise. But even the average person is all about money now. The way companies sell more is to make products cheaper. We all want tons of "stuff" and at the best price. So companies are forced to go overseas or risk going out of business. The majority don't care about service or reliability, they just want it cheap. And then they complain six months later when their TV is broken because they bought some cheap cheap no name brand on Black Friday. | |

Speaking of dollars and the recent tax stimulus package, your not gonna believe this but I think the new stimulus plan is simply and ADVANCE of your own future 2009 tax refund. In other words, they're not giving you any money, they're just giving you back your own money that they confiscated from you. I could be wrong about this but it wouldn't surprise me.

Could it be worse? Yes... a hell of a lot worse. Read anything on the turmoil in Kenya right now and you'll appreciate how "bad" it is here. The worst days here in the states are still better than the best days in a lot of the world.
Thats not to say that I don't think we need reform, change, and some accountability for our public officials and ourselves, but I'm done getting worked up over it anymore. As long as people value money and possessions over one and other this country won't change for the better.
