SVT Performance detail day.

I have a friend who runs a Linex shop out of an industrial park in the next town over. He's pretty heavy into muscle cars himself, and frequents some of the related forums (SVTperformance). He recently asked if I would be interested in conducting a detail day for the members on one of his forums he belongs to. I thought it would be interesting, and a learning opp for myself and all that attended. A previous detail shop owner (Jack) and myself would be assisting car owners all day long with a UDM (me) and rotary (Jack), as well as informing them of proper upkeep. The event started sharply at 9am, with a quick owner introduction and showing of about a dozen+ cars or so. I also asked how maintenance had been performed up to this point, and what issues they were having with respect to paint condition. It was REALLY amazing to see he condition of a lot of these vehicles. I mean some are 30-40+K and are taken through tunnel washes bi-monthly, and man does it show. With the exception of two cars, one GT and one Cobra, the remainder needed full compounding at a minimum. Some would have required (and rec'vd) wet sanding. One other, a silver Saleen only required light polishing and sealing, about a 2hr job.
I had actually raised enough proceeds to actually raffle off a UDM, and some other car care related items totaling about $300.00. The main intent of this program was to educate/inform enthusiasts of simple methods and products available to begin proper upkeep. Most were simply stunned at Jacks rotary wizardry or the ease and workhorse abilities of the UDM with proper products (Using Optimums line of polishes, Four Star UPP)
Anyway...............long story short, heres some pics, and a added link to StangFreak, Stang Freaks, Mustang Forums, Mustang News, Ventura County Mustang Club - Home. Rusty, the owner came along to check things out. I had joined Rusty's forum way back when it was just created and had kind of let it slide to the bottom of my favorites list. But upon last visit, holy cow has it been revamped! Great looking site, and if your into Mustangs of any age, I highly suggest a membership.
Heres some pics guys..........
Some clay work going on, on the Mach....

The results are in.........

First time UDM'er.......

And the finished product......after someUDM work, Optimum Polish and a final rest of Four Star UPP.

Glen 1st time w/UDM and Optimum Compound....

Only time for the front 1/2 of G's Cobra......But I think we turned the corner on some issues he was having.....

Some SVT member rides

Hats off to Jack who really turned some cars around......Pics didnt come out well so I havent uploaded them, i will have to do some tweaking first......
Congrats to those who won in the raffle and better luck to those who didnt, next time.....Good times, and great muscle cars!!
Thanks to Ernie for sportin the shop, couldnt have happened without your offer!

Re: SVT Performance detail day.

Looks like a nice event. You may have even created some new Autopians. Good job.
