Just go to Wikipedia and check out the specs of it...amazing.
Plus, the video game developers are just now getting the hang of Blu-Ray code, meaning that the PS3 will have tremendous support over the next few years. It's ridiculous!!!! Get the PS3 - great Blu-Ray player, web browser, and game console all for $499 (80GB) | |

It looks like Blu-Ray is in fact the winner. I don't think that means that HD-DVD will be going away anytime soon but BR is going to be the future.
I agree with others about getting a PS3 for a BR player. It's so much more than a video game system. It's really a home entertainment server too. I plugged in my flash drive to the front USB panel and was watching music videos and viewing photos. It's really pretty slick. I can't wait to get my home wireless set up so I can do all the online stuff with the PS3 also.
Just remember if your wanting high def you have to take all the steps. Cables and all. I was reading an article the other day that figured almost half of people with high def TV's aren't getting high def.

Do you already own an upconvert DVD player or a receiver that does? Might be a better option for right now. Help you get the most out of your current DVD collection for the time being.

Do you have a large DVD collection? What TV will you be watching it on?
HD DVD players are going down in price and are very appealing just as a solid up converting DVD player (not to mention you also receive 7 HD DVD's for free). I would say hold off for now until the Blu-Ray players are fully up to spec.
