Cell Phone Guru's Need Help Please.

Currently I am with Verizon and was given a BackBerry Pearl today. The phone is from T-Mobile and they use SIM Cards and Verizon does not. I called Verizon and they gave me the run around and said there is a 2% chance that it will work if unlocked ect. Is this true? Thanks.

No......it won't work. The Verizon phones don't use SIM cards and are a different technology (CDMA) than TMobile (GSM) It's pretty much a paperweight at this point.

Not to confuse the issue, but verizon does have a GSM capability now (see the blackberry world edition). But it's definitely not the standard for them, and i doubt if they can/will activate a GSM only phone.

Ditch the pearl (the keyboard will drive you nuts), grab a full keyboard blackberry and you will be happy.

Re: Cell Phone Guru's Need Help Please.

If it was unlocked you might be able to get it to work as a phone (and probably not BB) with Cingular. Pop it on ebay and then buy one tht works for verizon, and like cgage said, get one with a full keyboard, they are not much bigger and sooo much better than that suretype crap.
