Yeah, sorry but you guys aren't too smart. Yeah, those videos look pretty remote with all the other cars on the road. It's fine if you guys want to go out on some desolate road with no cars whatsoever to kill yourselves, but don't do it with other drivers on the road. What's the point of that kind of racing anyway?

"Oh man my car is way better than yours dude, it can accelerate better than any other car out there from 50 to 65! I bet it would do good at higher speeds too, but I keep getting slowed down by traffic."

The only race that I showed with other cars was with the 350Z and it was because we were waaaaay back but came up fast....that was on the way home from where we actually did the runs. I dont want to sit here and split hairs with you or anyone else but everyone has their own view on what they consider a "race"...some like the roll races and some like the dig races. There is always going to be street racing and that will never end. It is how you handle yourself and your car that determines the outcome.

True, but many people are not smart enough to safely do these races and there are always other factors which may come into play. The problem is with street racing, the outcome can mean life or death for an innocent victim...who is to say that innocent people should be put in harms danger in the first place for people wanting to have bragging rights. Like others have said, my comments come from personal experience with family members being on both ends of these kinds of situations, my cousin almost lost his life to his stupid actions.

Grimm - I'm sure you see it as much as I do if you ever travel on 31. It always amazes me in the summer how many idiots fly by me doing 95+ on their crotch rocket or car, especially all the teens on the weekends going up to Grand Haven.

Meh...maybe I'm just showing my age...but dude...that was stupid. In all three races there was a car right in front of the camera vehicle. One old lady with an itchy brake pedal foot and you're dead.

Take it to track and as a wise old man once told me...

Dig or die...screw that "from a roll" stuff.

Re: Some races from a cruise over the weekend...

Wow, so my thread went from some races to watch to, basically, me being an idiot for doing that....sorry for posting these.

I understand both sides of this and the potential outcome but when adrenaline is pumping and someone is next to me wanting a try....I can't say no. Its like a crack head being offered crack, there is danger there but they aren't going to pass it up.....ok, bad analogy but you get the point.

So in short, I am not to bright, but can we just watch the vids for what they are?

Sorry about the rant. Just a lot of remembering about my buddy today and I just wanted to say stay safe.

Sure, I get home so I can hear the sound with the videos and realize I forgot my speakers at a friends. lol

OMG Joshua, you aren't joking! This wasn't on 31, but on my way home from work on I96 this summer. I was cruising in the left lane behind another car as we approached a slower moving truck. The car in front of me passed and moved over. Well I'm traveling probably ten mph faster than this truck so I would have moved over pretty quickly, but I wasn't fast enough for these two morons on crotch rockets. I was doing 75, but they decided to go down the center between me and this truck and took off down the highway. I saw them do it off in the distance again. I don't know how fast those things go, but they had to be doing 125 easy. And one even had a girl on the back. Just insane. The entire time home I was waiting to see them laying off the side of the road somewhere busted up.

And to the OP, it's not just that some of us don't think it's too bright to street race, but me personally, those videos don't do a thing for me. Show me a video where a car goes from 0-whatever in the quarter mile in ten seconds or whatever. That is cool. Seeing one car take off faster from 40mph doesn't impress me. Oooh, that car has a better third gear than your's, wow! I want to see the total package from a dead stop.

Re: Some races from a cruise over the weekend...

Unreal Grimm, however I am not surprised. On my way home one night from going to Grand Haven I seen 6 crotch rockets all cruising in the left lane, they were coming up on me pretty fast so I got over to the right lane...I bet they were easily doing 100+ as they passed me. Well since 31 is divided, the cops can easily hide behind the trees and what not. I ended up seeing a police chase going both ways of the highway not 5 minutes after trying to chase down these guys on crotch rockets....I can honestly say I am afraid of driving on those highways mid-afternoon or during the evening.

Sorry to the OP for going off-topic in your thread!

Re: Some races from a cruise over the weekend...

that reminds me of one my barber told me a couple years ago. He was going from Muskegon to Grand Haven on 31 and he saw a guy lose control of his bike, crashed into the cement median, and ended up sliding along the top of the median for like 100 feet or something. He wasn't in good shape after that.

Re: Some races from a cruise over the weekend...

This thread got turned up side down!

I was reading the posts and I just kept thinking about the pizza guy from the fast and the furious that gets pissed and says "damn street racers".
