5.5hp 11.5amp Shop Vac $49.95

I went into Lowes today to pick up a few odds and ends. I walked by the shop vacs and they had a vac that I've been wanting for a long time with a lower price. Item #127133 5 Gallon, 5.5 HP (Peak) Heavy Duty Portable Wet\Dry Vacuum It was normally $69.99 and now was $49.99. I have a larger vacuum with the same motor. I needed a smaller vacuum for my mobile business when I added some other equipment (to make more room) a couple of years ago. I had wanted the vacuum linked above but they were out at the time so I bought the Rigid WD4050. Although the 4050 is a nice vacuum the 11.5amp motor in the shop vac I had been using blew it away. I wanted to replace it but never was willing to pay $70. For $50 I jumped on it. Looking forward to using it tomorrow.

I will never buy another vac, but this one! I am working on my second one right now. Very compact and powerful.

I had a chance to use it out today and a few observations and comparisons with the WD4050 and the 127133 (Lowes item number but not the vacuum model number).

Size no real winner here. The 127133 is larger but nothing I can really notice and doubt it will play a role.

Power goes to the 127133. The 11.5amp does provide more power. When I have time I want to compare them more in some tests.

Hose locking and type goes to the 127133. The 127133 uses a twist locking adaptor which may be more secure but I never had my Rigid hose lock come off. From a vacuum stance they both are even. However if you hook the hose up to the blower port I could never get the Rigid lock to hold so the twist lock would be better. Possibly my Rigid lock was messed up some as the air diffuser never blows off. My 1-1/2" crush resistant hose fit onto the 127133 adaptor. I had an adaptor to fit the opening of the 4050 but it wasn't locking.

Electrical cord holding goes to the 127133. I use an extension cord and always had to wrap the 4050 cord around the handle some to keep the built in cord in place. Not a big deal though.

Holding my crevice tool goes to the wd4050. Man that hole in the top was perfect for my crevice tool. I really liked that. The 127133 has a tool holder on the side which works fine but I really loved the hole on top.

Quiet no real winners. Both seem quiet enough to me.

Warranty goes to the 4050. Lifetime beats 5 years but has anyone used the lifetime warranty. I'm not 100% sure it would cover me wearing the vacuum out but may be wrong. The 127133 is a 5 year no hastle warranty. Both are quality vacuums so many years of use should be expected out of either.

Another plus for me was I used a 1-1/2" crush resistant pool hose for my vacuum hose which is blue. The blue grey of the 127133 matches my hose better than the black orange 4050. Now if you have a black orange hose on your 4050 and you buy a 127133 your screwed then and will be a fashion nightmare.

PhaRo, thank you for this thread and at the same time it is all your fault. After I saw it I came home one good vacuum at great deal richer but my pocket was $49.95 + tax poorer.
