PC 7424 at AMAZON.COM Good Deal?

I never thought I would buy a PC (I was just too scared), but after being on this forum for about a week I want one really bad. Now I'm just trying to find a good price on a PC. I saw this PC 7424 on amazon.com for 119.95 (no tax and no shipping). Here is the link http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...&s=hi&n=228013

If you go to that link it says on there lowest price guarantee that if you find the same product that is a lower price they will match it and take off 10%. I went on coastal tools and found there PC 7424 for 119 (95 cent cheaper than the amazon) so they should give me the 10% off. I also saw people getting the 7336 model at lowes for under 100 bucks. If someone has a link to that deal it would be awesome (I can't even find either the 7424 or the 7336 on lowes web site). Lastly, should I go for the 7424 or the 7336? What is the difference? I would really appreciate your guy's expert advice, thanks.

Chris

The 7424 and 7336 are essentially identical. They are the same machine, but one comes with a different counterweight. The 7424 comes with a 5" counterweight, which I never use, and the 7336 comes with a 6" counterweight.

The 7424 from CoastalTool comes with both the 5" and 6" counterweights, or at least it did when I ordered mine from there.

Here's the one at Lowe's: http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=prod...336&lpage=none

It probably works out to be about the same deal regardless of whether you get one from Lowe's for $99 plus tax or $119.95 no tax.....very close ($10 difference at the most). I would actually choose the 7336 just because it comes with the 6" counterweight which is more versatile than the 5" counterweight that comes in the 7424. (This is the only difference by the way)

The 10% discount from Amazon is 10% of the difference which means 10% of .95 cents. So you would save almost a dime.

Here is a Link to the 7336 at Lowes, but it's for my area (I think you can change it or have it sent to a store near you):

http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=prod...page=none&bc=c

The only difference is the counterweight in the 7424 and 7336. You'll be fine with either model, and if you want to change the weight they are only a couple of bucks. Here are two more links; one describes the difference between the two PC's and the other is on counterweights:

Found the 7336 on amazon

Thanks for the advice and links guys. I found the 7336 on amazon and it's 124.99 so if I price match it they will give it to me for around 98 bucks shipped. I think I might go for the amazon one. Thanks again guys!

Also what is the difference between both of these 7336's? One can operate from 2,500-9,000 OPM while the other one can do 2,500-6,000. Is that a huge difference in performance? Will I even go up to 9,000 OPM? Here are the link for the both. Which one would you get?

Sorry, I think we posted at the same time. I don't know what that is you are looking at. First of all, a 7336 is a 7336 so there has to be something wrong there....typo? The polisher would be the 7424 and the sander would be the 7336 but they are identical when it comes to specs. I'd call them about this before you buy, to see if they made a mistake in their ad because I've never heard of any PC going up to 9,000 opm.

It's a typo, if you read further down to the Product Description on the 7336SP it has the correct specs listed (2500- 6000).

I'd get the one that has the best price.

You do have to read the fine print about Amazon's price matching guarantee. You must have the store name, location, and phone number when you call one of their reps prior to making your purchase so they can verify the price. Also, they add in any taxes and shipping charges to determine the price they have to match. And, they won't "match prices at other Web sites, unless the company also has a brick-and-mortar store or a catalog business."

If your local Lowe's has the 7336 for $100, then add in your tax, and that's the price Amazon would match. They'd then give you an additional 10% of the price difference off. So, if the price difference is say, $20, that's an additional $2 off of the price they'd match. Not really a whole lot!

I considered both the 7336 and 7424, and the other posts are correct about the difference only being the counterweight. Personal preference, but I went with the 7424, and I got mine for $109 with free shipping from Northwest Power Tools. Cheaper than Amazon and about 5 business days via UPS Ground from Washington state to Boston. They shipped the PC in its box with no extra packaging (just stuck a shipping label on it), but it came through fine. Here's the link in case anyone is interested ...
