Re: Halogen work lights at Home Depot

Nice find.....I was just there on Sunday looking at/buying some lights myself.

For $19.99, the cheap ones are OK. In addition, I ended up buying a $44 Husky brand set from HD (1000W, sort of just below the price level of the super big ones you show). While your's looked pretty good to me, I was wondering how you get them to tilt "down"?? It looked to me like there was a stop cast into the lamp head preventing the lamps from going past top-dead upright. Is that the case?? Just thought I'd ask what you see in person.......the demo unit was up on a wall in my HD.

Thx.

See ya

I found the $19.88 1000w not near where the other lights were but up front by the checkout lanes.

I decided to go to the light isle and compare the lights with the others.

My "BIGGER IS BETTER" part of my brain took over and I bought a 1200 watt set up for $55 and a single 600 watt for $24 and change.

Here is the SWEET part - I found dual 250 watt (500watt total) on clearance for $9.76!!! I bought the last two.

There is a stop on one side that prevents the lights from being tilted down. I just turned the lights around and presto............

Notice they are tilted down in this pic.

Re: Halogen work lights at Home Depot

I bought a dual-500 watt halogen light at HD, but it doesn't illuminate swirls...

I tried to use it last week inside a shop that had weak overhead lights, and the halogen didn't work. Do I have to use the halogen in the dark for it to work?
Ideas, please!

That $55 1200W set looks like a much better deal than the $19.99 POS. I'll have to head up there to check them out. That single 600W would be real handy also. Thanks for the tip.

that red 1200 watt light stand is a beast. i was just at HD and they had a button that turns it on, and that sucker is bright. it has the two bulbs in each lamp as opposed to one that most all the others offer. if you go to your local post office and get a little change address packet that has the lowes 10% off coupon inside and HD will honor it...

Re: Halogen work lights at Home Depot

Picked up the $20 2x500w halogen lights from HD the other day. If you're going from no lights to these lights, you can't go wrong. Obviously these aren't going to compete with more expensive setups in terms of sturdiness and overall quality, but for someone just looking for a simple, at-home setup these are a solid option.
