Re: Halogen work lights at Home Depot

Was looking for a set of these lights. Good find! Hopefully they have them at my local store.

Re: Halogen work lights at Home Depot

Went to Home Depot today and picked some up. They could not find them at first as all of them were in cardboard boxes on top of the shelf where all the halogen lighting is kept.

Came home and put them together. They are not tall by any means, but will work fine for detailing a vehicle. Very bright as well.

Just make sure and not to touch the bulb when putting them in.

For $20 it's a damn good buy.

Re: Halogen work lights at Home Depot

Picked it up an hour ago. Thanks for the heads up. I was delaying purchasing a new set just for this very reason.

Those are good for the lower panels.

^ small ones might be useful. I ended up buying the heavy duty Red one that they sell since my last set broke down on me. I know Phil has the Green one's but those are too big to go mobile with. 5 Year warranty shouldn't be too bad.

about the red and green ones, does it help that they both have 2 bulbs that go inside to help show defects?

Re: Halogen work lights at Home Depot

I pulled the trigger on one of these today and am really happy I did. It seems like a really nice setup; definitely really bright but extremely hot.

Re: Halogen work lights at Home Depot

I picked these up yesterday, but I am going to return them today. The switches for the lights are low quality and only work like 30% of the time. You have to angle the switch just right when you press it in for it to click on. Of course you could replace the switch with a little bit of wiring, but that defeats the purpose of buying a cheap light. Plus I'm not too impressed with the build quality of the base. Too flimsy for me. But I guess for $20, you can't expect too much.

So for light duty home use they would be fine, but I wouldn't recommend them if you are running a professional shop or doing mobile work.

Re: Halogen work lights at Home Depot

I've had this set up for the past 6 months, the only complaint I have is the telescoping mechanism will loosen over time and slip. In fact I had to return two of them within a week becasue of the problem. For twenty bucks its still a good deal.

Cheers,
GREG

I noticed the switches as well. If they ever give me any problems I'll just crack them open and fix something up. Clicking it a few times does not bother me though.
