This is true, although I was hoping to find one anyway.

LMFAO..................Sorry.
I have found sales to increase if I jack prices up to MSRP, then add a discount. People dont look at the bottom line, they just want to see "10% off".......simply amazing.

I'm sorry to hijack, but obviously this strategy works, as it's used by many sellers in many venues throughout the retail world.
Gallagher had a bit about this years ago, about his wife having to buy something, because it was.....ON SALE!
Patrick, your strategy isn't really any different than the 10% Autopia discount that many vendors give.

Re: Auto Detailing Solutions
True Mike, but I still dont understand it! Look at Walmarts strategy........
Especially when I shop online for electronics, I simply Google search and look for the lowest bottom line price, regardless of sales or discounts. Just my nickels worth.....

Re: Auto Detailing Solutions
It's something about getting a bargain...or maybe it's just some perverse reaction to being afraid to get ripped off. It's like car shopping, you know the sticker price, and you (sort of) know the invoice price, but you still don't know if you're getting taken for a ride compared to the last guy that sat at the desk. Somehow "on sale!" seems to make you feel like you aren't getting ripped off.
PS I had to love when Circuit City was going out, I went to look around, I saw TV's at 10% off (!), and that was for the DISPLAY model...I walked out muttering that you could get a better sale price than that on a new TV at almost any time...forget a going-out-of-business sale of a display model...but I guess people were buying at that price because IT'S A GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE!

Re: Auto Detailing Solutions
I don't know if anyone else does what I do, but I have a spreadsheet of the products I use and would like to try, with the prices including any discounts. If the price is within a reasonable amount from people I like, I'll pay more and go with the service I enjoy. But price wins more often than not.
All the Meg's stuff I want to buy, ADS wins on everyday price. Not as much with Optimum stuff.

That seemed to be my ex-wife's logic... "But, honey, it was on sale!"

Re: Auto Detailing Solutions
I always look for the lowest bottom line price, regardless of sales or discounts. (Provided there's some reasonable guarantee of customer service behind that)
However, if you're ordering something that you can't find at any other vendor, such as the 12 oz sizes of 105/205, it doesn't hurt to ask if the vendor has any on-going discounts prior to placing an order.
Which is why I asked.
