Garage renovation by GarageTek

Hi all,

I just had my garage re-done by a company called GarageTek, It's not really what you would call a detailer's garage but it's a good compromise between what I wanted and what my wife could live with.

WALLS: all walls were paneled with their Tekpanel. Washable panel that creates grooves throughout all the walls that you can then slot in modular shelves, cabinets, brackets, etc...

CEILING: painted with knockdown paint and then another layer of finishing paint. 6 lights fixtures installed (two strips of 3.) Each fixtures has 2, 4ft. T8 flourescent bulbs. Each bulb is 2200 lumens. Very bright in the garage now.

FLOOR: Interlocking 1x1 tiles. Tiles are about 1" thick. The underside of the tiles are pegged so all tiles allow drainage underneath. The solid topped tiles have circular half-dollar sized bumps that provide texture and grip. The drainage tiles are color matched and perforated on top.

INSTALLATION: for my relatively small 400sq ft. garage, installation took 4 days.

BEFORE and AFTER pictures are here:

Wow, that looks really great!
The walls & added lights really brighten it up! "The better to see those flaws"!
Congratulations and many happy hours detailing in it!

We just tore out our Garage-Tek display @ work (EXPO Design Center) here in Nashville because the stuff just wasn't selling. I think it's a great solution, though. Granted it can get a bit expensive for some. If it were a do-it-yourself solution it may have worked better. Congrats and hope you enjoy it. Looks like a quality installation.

Thanks for the compliments all.

Prometheus: Defintiely not cheap. Entire project including all accessories was around $10K. We'll get part of it back if we decide to sell the house and enjoy it in the meantime.

kartoon: AFIK they don't sell the TekPanel material alone. Install only. You can specify any number of walls to be done and any number of accessories. They'll drywall for you if necessary as well.

norahcrv: Definitely! You do see more flaws but nothing beats the halogens for flaw detection.

TnM6i: couldn't agree with you more. I originally wanted to find something I could do myself. In the end though, the money wasn't a problem and it's kind of cool that everything I wanted was in one place and install was so quick. Here in southeast MI, GarageTek is doing really well.

Yup. 10k was for everything including insulation, drywall, paneling, accessories, mudding and painting celing, light fixtures and wiring, flooring system, installation for everything, and painting.

Absolutely beautiful Maecrispy. The paneling system seems like a real functional product with lots of continual improvement built in. I like the detailing supplies and the cabinet. I especially like the bars for towels and mitts. I could use a couple myself.
