sagging doors

how do i fix sagging door syndrome? My drivers side door is sagging to the point of me having to lift it up about .25" for the pieces to engage into the lock mechanism.
help please!!!

I had this happen with my old boat of an 80 Camaro. The body shop just added some shims for me and it was all good.

how do i get these shims and where would i put them?

go to autozone and look in the "help" section. you can find hinge kits with bushings. just cut out the old hinge rods and replace and that will fix it

I wouldnt just shim it because it is only gonna get worse and you would have to add more shims after awhile. those hinge kits only cost like $5.00 or about there and are easy to install

how hard would it be to change out the hinges?

not hard at all. just cut the hinge rod or the rivet on top. then install the bushings and new hinge just drops in with a cotter key on the bottom or sometimes a rivet

i just went and looked, and well i didn't see and rivets or cotter pins on my doors. it is all held together by bolts.

I forget where we got them from. And they are metal shims that go between the hinge backing plate and the body of the car.

would an auto shopp have them?

A body shop might have them or be able to get them.
