Aquapon 35

I'm going to paint the garage floor in my new home with the Aquapon 35 product. I've read all the instructions and have a pretty good idea on the prep work needed and the application procedure.

I'm looking for anyone who has experience putting this product down. Are there any tips\tricks you can offer that may not be covered in the instructions.

TIA.

Do a search...

Are you using the sand additive? I felt it was WAY too much, and would cut the amount in half.

I'm 18 months into it, and I'm quite happy. A little dull in high traffic areas, but we really have a lot of traffic! No lifting, very minor staining (probably my fault).

Good choice. Film build is important, so expect two coats... TAKE YOUR TIME. DO NOT HURRY THE PROCESS.

Good choice

Jim

Thanks Jim - I read all those threads again. It was the search that lead me to the product.

I'm very excited about doing this, actually I'm very excited to have my first garage.

I haven't decided on the color yet. We are closing on the 18th so I have some time, although I will start the painting right away.

Yes I will have before and after pictures and will gladly post them.

Today is the big day. I'm closing on the house. I've ordered the paint and have all the cleaning materials.

I expect to have something posted within the next couple of days.

Before and after pictures as well as the prep steps.

Well here are the before pictures.

The shelving unit is in the dump. The floors are very badly stained. I used 1 Gallon of Acid on it yesterday. I cleaned it a second time this morning (don't have the pics uploaded) and patched some small cracks in the cement. It's been drying all day and I will paint tomorrow. I'm not going to get all the junk off the floor so I hope that the 2 washings will prevent the paint from lifting. I used a lot of acid.

Hey tjm01, your garage floor doesn't look that much different from mine. I did a lot (and I mean a lot) of washing. It's a second day and I'm still waiting for the floor to completely dry off. After washing I used my wet/dry vac to speed up drying but it still takes time .
This morning I only saw a couple of wet spots so maybe I'll be able to cover it tonight.

I used one of those Salamander type heaters to help the drying process.

This is where I am right now. It's a little cold tonight but will be nice tomorrow - I'm curious to see how it dries.

I haven't been able to get my digital photographs uploaded because my primary machine is still down. That should change within the next couple of days though.

I applied a second coat because my garage will be heavily used - let me tell you that I am completely impressed with the product. Today I dragged my engine hoist across the floor and it left some rust marks from the wheels. I ran my shop broom across the floor and the marks are gone. We have had excellent weather here so the floor has dried out very nice. It looks awesome and I firmly believe I made the right decision with this stuff. I should also have my metal lathe delivered within the next couple of weeks and we will see how the floor holds up when the riggers deliver it.

I blended the wall\floor line better than what the above picture shows. I've also repainted that back wall and I'm deciding on how I'm going to light the place. I'm thinking 4 8' lights running vertical with the 2 4' lights going horizontal above the work bench.
