Hose Reels

Looking for comments from anyone who has one of those cart-hose wheels. I passed on up last summer at Costco and have been thinking about it since. Are they worth the money?

I like them.

I keep a hose on one in the back yard and a hose on one in my side yard that I use to wash the cars in my driveway. Since we can't keep a hose attached to the water in the front yard, it really helps to store and move the hose around.

Get a good one. I need to replace one of mine because I just broke it.

You get what you pay for.

Spend the money and buy a solid hose reel.

I have this one (click link below) and it ROCKS. The best hardware investment next to my polishers and Wet Vac.

Rapid Reel does rock!!!

You can choose your color and they make many styles and options. I have the mount on the house and then I can pull it off and stick it on the cart. The cart is so stable and it spins so easily that I can pull hose off it from over 50' away without fear of tipping it over or having it move on it's own. Worth every penny!

BTW, Griots "is" a Rapid Reel.

The Rapid Reel is the exact same as the Griot's but more money.

Did anybody see the ones on QVC last week? They used a water powered system to wind the hose automatically. Looked neat, but I would like to hear from someone that has actually used one.

I've been struggling along with a few of the perpendicular mount Suncast (100% plastic) units. I run heavy and long hoses and the plastic keeps breaking...various parts. In fact, the handle just snapped off (again) this past Sunday. Suncast is pretty cool, though. You can telephone them or order replacement parts on-line and they pickup the tab. It's very good of them to stand behind their products but it isn't a satisfying experience when the reels keep failing.

Lesson learned: Spend the $$ on the front end to acquire a unit that will last

Last spring-- Menards (think they are only in the midwest) has a self reeler that was water-powered. Made by an Israeli company.
Held 250' of hose--don't seem to be carrying this year.

Anyone else out there see any self reelers?

I've had nothing but bad experiences with Suncast hose reels. I wouldn't recommend the brand. I found an Ames hose reel at Lowes that works pretty good. It's the kind that sits on the floor. It holds my 100 foot Craftsman hose with ease - the pure rubber hoses are pretty heavy too. It seems pretty solid for only $30. I was going to buy one of the rapidreels, but I just got
my house and wanted to save some money.
