Preventing garage parking accidents

I want to buy some kind of wedge or something to keep myself from accidently driving into the wall in my garage (yes, I'm careful, but accidents can happen!).

The two options I've seen are:

sounds a lil ghetto, but i know some ppl who use this method, and the best part is that it costs nothin basically.

Basically tie a piece of string at the required depth of your garage, and stick a tennis ball to the end of it...when u reverse, and hit the tennis ball, u know when to stop

I have the second one... The black curb looking thing. I like it and it works well for me. but if you have a painted floor it can slid around a bit as it does in my fathers garage. They give you some double sided foam tape but come on who in their right mind thinks its going to stick to concrete or the black oily rubber the curb is made of?

don't pay the price on the internet I got mine at Menards for 14.99 and that is about all its worth not $25.00

I was thinking of getting this:

with the intent of nailing it into the garage floor (which is concrete block). That might not work though.

You can also just make up something. You need a reasonably wide board, cut to length so one end is against the wall and the other will be where you want the tyre to stop. Nail a batten at the tyre end to give it some height and thats it. You can fix it through to the floor if you need to.

I just use a piece of 2" x 2" about 15" wide and bolted to the floor. As soon as I can feel that I stop........I'm about 2" off putting a big dent in my rear bumper, works every time

I've been using the tennis ball hung from the ceiling for years. I usually pick the line between the hood and the fender that way the family knows where to put the car both front to back and side to side. Avoids some door dings and you will be able to get between the car and the garage door.

The only problem is, everytime someone comes through the empty garage "Oh you have a cat?" I hate cats!

I have 2 of the yellow Park Smart pads and they work great!

The Forester has a hatchback that swings up, and when the garage door is closed it sometimes blocks the hatchback from opening all the way. With the Park Smart, I've always got the right amount of clearance behind the car.

My wife rolled her eyes and thought they were a little dopey when I first got 'em ("what are we 80 years old?") but she was easily converted.

They work well but it's easy enough to roll across 'em if you're going fast enough.

technically u can save the $35 bucks or how ever much those things cost, to buy more detailin supplies and just buy a 2x4 piece of wood, paint it, decorate it in the same colour of yo garage and all, and use that, same thing as those fancy thingies
