Need new lights.......

I have to say that my garage really suck, the floor has a layer of dirty concreate, the walls are white with many spider webs, the window still has dead bugs and a lot spider webs and the garage has only two low voltage halogen bulbs. For now I only want to improve my lighting by getting new fluorescent light just like everyone else here. I don't know how big my garage is but I know it can fit a mid size SUV and a mid size car together and it's about 8' tall. I can only put my lights vertically since that's where my halogen bulbs are located. I know it's a little hard to understand but which size and voltage of fluorescent light should I get?? Need help or else I can't detail my car in my gloomy garage

MDX...

There's been a number of posts regarding lighting. Do a search, I'm sure you'll come out with a lot of posts.

I have two 500 watt halogen shop lights. I really don't like them, they're so bright that you can't see imperfections. I usually just use one of the lights, and look at the car at an angle and then I can see swirl marks, etc fine.

I'd get some 4 ft flourescent fixtures that come with chains to hang them up, off and on chains and power cords to plug in.
They are often called workbench lights or shop lights.

Hang them up where you want/need them, run extension cords to plug them in and when you get them right make the installation more permanent.

Thanks. Should of used the search. The problem is, if I used the search, I don't know if that person's garage I'm looking at is the same size as mine so it's hard to decide

I just did mine.
Single bay, (4) 4' double bulb flourescent fixtures, 4100k bulbs. For your garage do 8 fixtures if you go 4'.

You can eliminate the weak bulbs currently in there and wire the new fixtures to that. That way, you use your existing switch for the flourescents.
Mine is (literally) night and day difference now!!! You may still need a portable halogen for up close work but what I have now is damn good.

If you need any help/advice lmk
