Re: First house! Garage makeover!

HOLY WOW!!!! What a turn around! Have you done anything else to the inside of the house or did you put all your effort into the most important room?

Re: First house! Garage makeover!

Thanks for all the compliments!!!

To answer some questions:

The flooring is G-Floor by Better Life Technology - Diamond-Tread Pattern Vinyl Garage Flooring by Better Life Technology
I purchased it at costco for a VERY good price :-)

Lighting: all of the lighting is flourescent except for the under cabinet lights, which are xenon, and a single incandescent bulb on the ceiling. There are a total of 22 4 foot flourescent bulbs in 6 fixtures (5 ceiling, one wall) I have the usual halogen work lights for swirl finding and removal.

Paint - I cleaned the walls and ceiling and patched up everything, hid the garage door opener control cables, and used a spray gun to paint it gloss white. As pointed out - the doors and window need another coat, but they are old and in poor condition so I'll be replacing them with newer, more efficient and safer units.

Cabinets - ULTImate Garage - bought them at sears when they were on sale (20% off) and couldn't be happier. I need 2 more wall cabinets though, as I've filled everything up with detailing supplies already!!! (save for 3 drawers used for tools).

Additional details. - I was going to run air hoses through the walls for the compressor, but I think that's more work than its worth. Instead, I have a few extra rims from my old Lumina Z34 that I'm going to cut in half (not across the face, but to decrease the width of the wheels) and use one as a hose reel for the air hose and the other as a reel for an extension cord. All of the wall plates are stainless (looks cool!). I have computer speakers (logitech z-5500 digital) and airport express with airtunes out there. Before the winter, we'll be installing some sort of heating out there (still deciding what will work best)

I also need to devise a way of hanging my race kart on the wall for winter storage - luckily my friend owns a machine shop so we should be able to rig something up!

Rest of the house - I'm not single....that should answer the question sufficiently (in other words - YES - new wood floors, paint, carpets, etc etc - we had to do all that stuff first before I was permitted to toil in the garage, but its a fair trade since my car parks in there, not hers.)

T

Re: First house! Garage makeover!

Looks awesome. That's what I'd love my garage to look like when I buy a place. IMO, that garage would have even been nice if you left it alone and just parked the C6 in there.

Re: First house! Garage makeover!

Great makeover! Love those cabinets. I appreciate the SCCA sticker on the Vette.

Re: First house! Garage makeover!

Are the floor pads floating or are they stuck to the concrete? If they are floating is there any chance that at the seam line in the middle or at the end where the garage door is moisture can enter, especially in the NE winters where things can get quite messy?

Oh yeah and it all looks great, I haven't seen a cleaner 1 car garage as far as I can remember.

Re: First house! Garage makeover!

Nice Job! You really made that place shine. Obviously a lot of time and effort went into your makeover...

Two Questions for you:
1) can you give us a ballpark cost for the total renovation?

2) What did you do with all the stuff in the before photos?
No way in the world did you get it all to fit into those few cabinets?!?!?!!?

Again - GREAT JOB!
