Thumbs up Dent Wizard PDR.......

Dont know if this is the right forum, but I figured Id post to help out anyone that might be thinking about PDR.

Had a really bothersome dent in my newly inherited 2001 i30. It was on the passenger side front door, and everytime I walked to the car I saw it. It was fairly high up, and right on a body line. I wasnt sure anyone would be able to fix it without paint/body work (it wasnt large, but maybe 1.5" tall, and fairly deep).

dentwizard.com showed the nearest place as a nearby Acura dealer. Took my car there on lunch to get an estimate. 7 minutes of work later, the car was done (the ding I was worried about, plus 2 smaller ones that the dent guy could see but I couldnt). The price may have been a little high (125.00/panel), but the fact that I showed up and walked about 20 minutes later with no more dings, made it worth the cost. The dent guy was really nice too, chatted with him a little bit, shook his hand and told him I wouldnt have believed it if I didnt see it myself. And I didnt even have to make an appointment, he just walked over and said "yeah I can take care of that right now".

to Dent Wizard.

I used him last week, $100 2 small dings, 20 minutes, at first I thought it was kina high!!!

Thought about it and a body shop would have charged 7 or 8 hundred to take them out and repaint, you got a bargin.

kbshadow.

Is Dent Wizard the guy's company name or the tool he used?

Is there one on the east coast too? I'm looking at saving up for some PDR on my car.

Go to www.dentwizard.com and click Locations. Im sure they are all over the place (there were about 20 in my area). Seems like a company that does ding/dent work for car dealers. They have retail places too, but by far the dealer "locations" outweigh the retail locations.

All I did was call the nearest dealer that uses them, went to stop by for an estimate (dealer pretty much just looks at the ding and eyeballs if they think the Dent Wizard people can fix it, then they give you the cost - in my case it was per panel but I think different areas/dealers have different pricing).

Shouldnt be hard to find another on the East Coast. If you are in CT like I am, I can be 100% positive that you will be able to find a place to take your vehicle.

As far as how they do it, I watched him so I saw a couple of the tools. I dont want to explain everything (dont know if they happen to have a patent/copyright on the tools), but its another thing that *looks* easy, but Im sure you dont get good at until you've been doing it for a long while.

Awesome! There are about 8 locations within a few minutes of me. Dad was saying that he thinks my dings are small for PDR, but we're gonna take my car out for errands so we can stop by a location on the way home. Maybe they're good candidates for PDR.

I have a cousin and friends that do the PDR thing. Cox Cable Communications owns Dent Wizard and my cousin used to work for them here in Oklahoma City but about 3 months later they shut it down here and moved on else where ( i think for tax purposes). But i had a couple of door dings on my old car and he got them out in about 10 mins and it looked perfect. My friends work at an auto auction here in the city and they make BANK doing that. My cousin now works for a company called Dent Master his friend bought a shop and opened it up.

One of the dings he removed was so small I couldnt even see it until he pointed it out. Even then, it was barely noticeable. Needless to say, now its gone

Now I just need to fix all the scratches from the previous owner (my mom!!!)

I just talked to the Dent Wizard of G.A. Land and it's a no-go. He's been working on Lexus' (Lexi?) for 13 years and is really familiar with my particular car. He said that where the dings are on the car, he has to remove the backseat and interior trim panel to take them out pain[t]lessly.

What's the alternative to PDR? Something about drilling holes in the car, but I don't really know what it is.

Why not just remove the back seat and interior trim panel yourself and then take it to him? If that is all that is holding you back I would do that rather than go the traditional bodywork route.

I'll probably end up doing this, but it'll be a little while. It'll be a little more involved than the "stop by for 30 minutes during lunch" kind of thing I had thought of.

I might be able to learn how to remove the dents myself this summer at our body guy's shop. I'm gonna be working toward some scratch repair while I'm there.

I have had pleasurable experiences with Dent Wizard in the past as well. They repaired some hail damage on my last truck. Little dents were all over, but they fixed it and you'd never have known they were there.
