You REALLY don't want to get me started on that topic. I am sorry to say that you almost have to drive like a jerk to keep from getting hit.

My pet peeve is when people cross 3 or more lanes of traffic to make their exit. Unfortunately, this is a common practice on the expressways in Chicago and winds up getting people killed or cited by the Illinois State Police/Cook County Sheriff/Chicago Police.

bigal: Unfortunately, this practice isn't limited to IL. I have seen it a few times in AZ.

Re: mannerisms in public

My list of driving pet peeves (abridged version, Chicago)

a) Not yielding for emergency vehicles
b) Not yielding for funerals (One of my family members got into an accident when some jerk cut into my uncle's funeral procession)
c) Slow drivers in the fast lane
d) Idiots who don't read No Turn On Red Signs

Trust me, there are more.

My list of driving pet peeves (abridged version, Arizona)

a) Those who defy the laws of physics and try to drive 75+ in snow
b) Slow drivers in the fast lane
c) Drivers who abruptly cut out on you

Re: mannerisms in public

Many of my pet peeves regarding stores have been mentioned already. One thing that REALLY bothers me and has not been mentioned is:

Sick people at the store who cough and sneeze all over everything! Stay your sick @ss home and get rid of that because nobody else wants what you're spreading!!

Last night my girlfriend and I were at Wal-Mart and the guy in front of us was hacking up a lung. I kept my distance and when he told the cashier "I need to go home and take my temperature because I think I'm getting sick" I took all of my items back off of the conveyor belt and moved to another register

Re: mannerisms in public

I have a big problem with people who don't use their signals when changing lanes. How hard is it, honestly? I've come to believe that most people aren't aware such a device exists on their cars, or that using it means that you "lost" the game of driving.

I mean, I even see people who go up a little extra before changing in front of me suddenly, as if that's doing me a favor? Use your signal and I'll no problem with you! Jeez.

It's shocking how common courtesies are lost among the people of this country.

BMW335: No problem. Just be careful of what you say in the future.

Re: mannerisms in public

I have a feeling it was already stated in this thread, but people who just leave shopping carts all over the place really get me going too. Is it really that big of a problem to walk about 10-15 extra feet instead of leaving carts in the middle of the road of pushing them towards other people's vehicles?

Oh hell, I can remember when all the attandants use to smoke (when there were full-service stations). And that was well before any 'vapor recovery' equipment came in to use. I don't remember a lot of people blowing up...

Re: mannerisms in public

Honestly, there are some simple things that go ignored in various parts of the country. For instance, just the practice of saying "Hi" to someone you don't know is different dependent on the region.

However, where there have been positive behaviors that are ignored, some bad behaviors are encouraged or accepted.
