This thread really hit home for me, I see all of these things all the time here in Las Vegas. Is it just me or does Wal-mart seem to attract more of this type of person than anywhere else? People will actually dump trash from their vehicle in the parking lot and drive off! I've also noticed that lower income areas seem to be more prone to this. Is it some psychological reason? I'm not saying higher income means anything, since I've seen similar behaviors by wealthy people also, just not as much. Bad parenting? As Scottwax said "no common sense"?

Re: mannerisms in public

why is it when you pass someone in a lane on the freeway (going ridicously slow), they only speed up to try not to let you over, and then purposely slow down when you're behind them ? people these days...

Re: mannerisms in public

I had a lady once motion to me to come over to her, she was on her phone. So I walked over and just waited, thinking maybe she was getting instructions from someone else on what they need or something, but then she started talking about her kids and stuff, So I just started to straighted stuff up around that isle, waiting for her to finish, After a few minutes, I just said that I would be in the next isle if you need me. She then put the phone into her stomach, and kinda yelling told me she needed help. I asked her what she needed, but by then she was on her phone again, and wouldn't get off. This wasn't just a minute or two, by the time I just left, was maybe 5 or more minutes.

Re: mannerisms in public

I always check my doors too, esp if any car parked really close to me. But of course most of the time that doesn't happen. As I always parked at the very end corner, far far away from the entrance, and stick as close as the the wall as possible, without scarping my wind mirror of course.

Re: mannerisms in public

Personally I beleive that the invention of the low cost portable cellular phone has been the most significant set-back in basic social interaction of people in the last 50 years. 9 times out of 10 when I get cut off or another driver does something moronic I pull up on them only to discover that they have their stupid phone attached to their dumb head. It gets even worse with those stupid bluetooth ear bud things, half the time I can't see the thing on their ear and beleive that they are talking to me, or that they are just plain nuts.

Also the cell phones make people so completely indifferent to their surroundings. I was at school the other day and was standing in line to buy coffee and had to listen to this bleached blonde sorrority girl twit describe the sexual events between her and some dude she met the night before, to her friend over the phone. She got INCREDIBLY graphic, it wasn't even a turn-on, it was just plain gross.

Re: mannerisms in public

A REALLY, REALLY big pet peeve for me is when women dont acknowledge me when I go out of my way to hold the door for them. They just pass me by like im nothing.

One time I saw a man hold a door open for a woman. She totally ignored him and he FLIPPED out...I felt kind of bad for him...

Oh and when people park too close to my car. Oh my God nothing gets my blood boiling more than that ESPECIALLY when I went out of my way to make room for them. I want to take a bat to their door...

Re: mannerisms in public

I think we dont need to make a big deal about that(no need for arguments, it didnt seem aimed to offend, just a slip of the tongue). The south is the south and has some mannerisms of its own. This thread is pretty funny by the way, I agree with alot of what has been said.
