Re: Buying Flowers: A Classic Trait of a Gentleman

I am glad that no one has said for the best deal on flowers to swing by a fresh grave site.

And no I have never done this nor do I plan to do this.

Re: Buying Flowers: A Classic Trait of a Gentleman

I brought my now-girlfriend flowers the first few dates, but I didn't want her to get dependent on receiving them, so it's been a few weeks since she last got them. I'll stop and grab a small $4-5 bouquet on the way to see her next weekend.

Re: Buying Flowers: A Classic Trait of a Gentleman

buying (dead) flowers is like shopping for a Mercedes and settling for a VW IMO
I never buy my wife cut flowers . I like to pick the wildflowers in my area and give them to her through out the summer months I cannot / will not give roses as we only have about 10 mature plants (aromatic & long stem) what I do is call the local florist and send a small live flower bearing plant at various times of the year to her workplace ( she is a teacher).
I also do this for my 9yr old daughter. although my house is full of all sorts of plants my wife can tell me when and where she was when she recieved them and always makes remarks to her friends as how special she feel knowing her hubby is always thinking of her.
I find/feel women in general love to recieve live plants over dead ones so the next time you think about buying a dozen roses just call the local florist in your area and send a small live plant with a card that says you are thinking of her, to her work and see how much she likes it

Re: Buying Flowers: A Classic Trait of a Gentleman

This seems like it's all about wives and gf's... Well what about mothers? I still talk to mine and she loves flowers. I usually get her some kind of purple flower since that is her favorite color. But what kind of flowers do your mothers like?

Re: Buying Flowers: A Classic Trait of a Gentleman

befor my mom passed, my daughter used to take her roses off our plants everytime we would visit. she loved the intoxicating scent they had.
the funny thing about it was she kept probablyevery one my daughter brought her.
I think she loved her Orchid ( I bought it for her for mothers day some years ago) the most of all her flower bering plants.but the one she babied was her Wondering Jew. she kept it in the kitchen above the sink.
after she passed my wife aquirred most all her plants and the wondering Jew has a place above our sink now strange thing is that there is a catus growing with it kinda kool.my mother had a real "green thumb" and could grow anything
