New (to me) Garage

Just purchased my first home about a month ago. Now looking to make the garage my own little detail, have fun, workshop place. I am getting the whole house re wired this weekend. Don't have enough power to run the compressor and a light at the same time. So while were at that, I figured I should get the lighting up in the garage. I have read some good info on the forum. Yet am still not sure how many lights to get and how to place them. I know I want to do ceiling only. Looking at the T8's, maybe 6 or so? As you can see the garage has an old light up in the center of the garage. I am going to replace that with a newer T8 but am unsure where to place the rest.

Going to get some replacement windows for the three you see. Paint the mouldings around the windows black and get some shades for when I don't want people looking in.

Image: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/Stylinhonda/DSCN3251.jpg

Painting the ceiling white and the walls a light silver. Not sure what color to do the floor yet, or even what product to use.

Image: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/Stylinhonda/DSCN3254.jpg

Any input on ideas would be great. I know I don't have the best pictures of the ceiling but this is all I had on the computer.

What are your thoughts on leaving the left side of the garage brick (seen in the first pic)? Or spend the extra time and money and drywall the left side? Some people think it's a neat aspect of the garage, yet it may not flow with the black and silver colors!

Best type and placement of lighting for a garage

What is the best light that would be appropriate for a 20 by 20 garage. It has 9 foot ceilings. Would florescent or halogens be the best, what brightness. Also were would be the best place to mount them, ceiling or wall or both?

Fixed up the garage a bit....

I had some free time so decided to spend 40 hrs cleaning out the garage and while I was at it I turned it into my own personal detailing bay. I painted the walls, the floor, posted up 4 fluorescent lamps, and threw out A LOT of stuff. Still work in progress, will be running the air hose into the ceiling to a roof retractable reel, and a retractable electric cord. and posting up some nice car posters. Enjoy.

Bit The Bullet - Bought Seville Classic Garage Cabinets!

OK..............the product "reviews" for Seville Classic garage cabinets were ~unanimously positive!! Lots of thumbs-up feedback on various forums, on the Sam's Club site and at Seville.

So, I bit the bullet........and ended up with 6 pieces total. I guess I have to order their wall cabinets separately from Sam's on-line. Turned out to be less than $200 per piece, including a new Sam's Club membership and sales tax.

Two tall vertical cabinets, a workbench, 2 small under-bench cabinets & a rolling workbench w/a couple of drawers plus peg board wall attached to it.

Looks like a lot of assembly to do.......and then the dreaded garage clean-up & reorganization to put away all the stuff the cabinets are for in the first place!!

More pictures then..........................

See ya. :wavey

RaceDeck Garage Surfaces - Latest Opinions? vs. Epoxy?

RaceDeck has been discussed in few threads.

Just wondering if folks have had recent experiences & developed opinions about the product.........and whether it's better quality, "pro-like" epoxy surfaces?

I actually think the price of professionally applied epoxy systems is more than RaceDeck for my 3-car garage. On the other hand, UCoat and other DIY quality brands of coatings are much, much less.

Being in the land of ice, snow, salt, slush and general "crap" in the winter time makes me wonder about how RaceDeck on top of my bare floor will effect the concrete. For a 10 yr. old surface, it's in very good shape. (The good news is, though, that you can take Racedeck up and take it with you if you want........it doesn't have to stay with the garage).

Any recent or new opinions/recommendations............pictures, experiences, et. al. would be helpful.

Thx. in advance.

See ya. :wavey
