HD UNO Challenge -- All Expenses Paid!

It came to 3D's attention today that a rumor was started on another forum about the new HD UNO car polish. The rumor basically stated that HD UNO caused holograms and was only a mediocre product.

As a result, Tunch, the owner of 3D, asked me to "drop the gauntlet" and invite three challengers to 3D in Santa Clarita, CA, all expenses paid. In other words, bring the polishes you think can't be beat, and use them side-by-side with HD UNO. The event will be video taped, and the results -- good or bad -- will be published on YouTube in HD.

Here's the catch:

- Event will be on a weekend TBD
- You may not be affiliated with the products you are putting against HD UNO
- The winning product will be determined by Autopia member votes from the videos

If you'd like to be part of this test, please tell us why you think you should be selected. Please don't PM me about it.

If you're one of the three selected, I'll see to it that you get a ride in Tunch's new Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. :D

Let the fun begin!

Hi Marie (aka New Hottie;)) since you are the right person to ask - I was wondering when the Video section on HD Care will be available? From the site "All New Video Content Launches 16 November, 2009!". I'm considering to try out HD line, but would like to get more detailed info about HD products. The short clips on product pages are OK but something more would be nice, to help in my (and maybe other people) decision making process. Thanks.

HD Hand Off to 3D

Hi All,

The job I was hired to do for 3D International is nearly complete. In the next few weeks the HD Professional line will be bottled, packaged and ready to ship. So, it's time for me to start turning things over to the 3D staff to manage themselves.

Later today I will be training Marie on order processing and working in the forum. When you have pre-sales questions, order changes, shipping problems, special requests, etc... Marie is your gal. She's a car enthusiast, like the rest of us, so she will fit right in. I warn you right now, though, she's a feisty one, so be careful!!! :)

Later this week I will introduce Frank. Frank has been the one picking, packing and shipping your orders. So far, Frank has pushed over 500 orders out the door, with only one mistake (wouldn't you know it was an International order... D'Oh!).

Anyway, Frank is a lot more than just a great guy in the warehouse, he's also a master paint polishing technician. He's buffed out countless cars in professional body shops, and for the past few years he has been doing most of the training on 3D products for the professional customers.

Finally, the great news for last. Over the past few weeks, 3D created a complete, professional video studio in their secondary warehouse. Maybe you've seen some of the videos that were produced on the hdcarcare.com (http://hdcarcare.com) product pages. The founder and owner of 3D International, Tunch Goren (we call him Tony), will be producing regular videos on the chemistry behind car detailing products. Tony has his degree in chemistry from some stuffy, snooty university in England, but don't let that fool you, he's very knowledgeable and he's going to share it with us.

If you're wondering what's next with me, well, Autopia.org's 10th anniversary is right around the corner. That's right, just about 10 years ago a few of us met for the very first time on a forum system hosted on Bravenet. Believe it or not, many of those original members are still on Autopia.org today.

Starting 30 November I will be working full-time on revamping Autopia.org.

:hifive:

P.S., If you ever get word that I'm thinking of being involved in the development of another brand of car care products, someone just shoot me!!!
:p

Scratches not coming out with HD Uno

I just bought the DA Polisher Kit (PC 7424XP, HD Uno, HD Uno foam Pad, etc...). I tried polishing some scratches out, but it isn't working.

This is my first time polishing with a machine. I decided to try on my commuter car which is a 2006 Kia to get some practice before touching my nicer cars. The scratches look like it came from drive through car washes. The scratches are clear coat scratches, it didn't go through the paint. The paint still looks shiny if you stand a couple feet back, but if you get within a foot or so you can see all the tiny scratches.

I followed the instructions on the video. I sprayed the UNO pad with a little Zaino Z6, then put 3 dime sized pellets on the pad. I spread it in an area about 2x2 then turned on the machine at speed 5. I guestimated about 25lbs of pressure, working up, down then side-to-side. I would repeat the pattern at least 3 times before wiping it down. It looked shinier, but the scratches were pretty much all still there.

I'm thinking these scratches might require something more aggressive. I have some Maguire's ScratchX I bought at Target. I was thinking about getting another foam pad and using that and the PCXP to try to work the scratches out first.

Are these scratches too severe for HD Uno? Should I try something more abrasive or am I doing something wrong?

Here are the pics of AFTER polishing. The variation in brightness is me playing with my camera settings.
