I've decided to go mobile on my own and am trying to think of a name. At first I liked "Showroom Shine Detailing" but now I'm starting to think it's overly catchy and therefore wouldn't be taken as serious as others. We also all know that showrooms are full of hack detailed cars, but I still think it has a good connotation. I'm now leaning towards something a little more standard and professional like "Premier Auto Detailing" or "Executive Auto Detailing." More dry, but more professional as well, which is something to consider because most of my clients are/will be higher income individuals that appreciate professionalism.

One last thing to consider is that I will exclusively be doing rinseless (ONR/DP RWG) and waterless (CG Ecosmart) washes so I could go with the whole eco-friendly, green thing in the name. I like this because it would help distinguish me from all the others simply based on name, and it would appeal to those that are consciences of the environment. However, I don't like it because it's almost like hopping on the bandwagon green trend, and therefore maybe not taken as seriously as a more standard name.

Please help me figure this out.

Gentleman,

I'm looking for someone who knows how to wet sand and remove some scratches on a black vehicle. I have a couple scratches on both sides of the driver and passeger front doors that resemble a cart hitting your car. They're not deep enough to the touch and I have been told that wet sanding them could resolve my problem, but I'm humble enough to admit that I dont have enough experience in this and I would much rather leave it up to a pro. I will post up pictures a little later (at work)

If anyone is interested please feel free to PM me.

Thank You

How do you guys deal with those clients who simply don't understand the worth of a detail and think it's outrageous when you want to charge $300+ for something they can get for $100-150 at 'another detail shop'?

In my 3 years I've been more than lucky to never come across those who price shop much or those who simply compare me the corner wash places and ask for a detail, but recently had a talk with a friend of a friend and he simply thinks I'm crazy for charging so much.

Just to clarify.. I am not at all intimidated or doubting my skill, prices and services, rather wanted to simply satisfy my curiosity and see how the rest of you react to this.. do you try explaining again or showing the difference, or...?

About to do a franchise, need some advice

Hi everyone! I've been approached by about 4 or 5 different people about franchising my company but I've always turned them down until recently. A long-time customer of mine, who also happens to be filthy rich, approached me with the idea of making another Apollo Auto entity in the region where he lives. I trust this guy and he trusts me and I've got the skills he's got the bread, so I can't think of a better partner. Basically this "other me" would be trained by me, etc. and wouldn't be my "own competition" as we'll be in different regions. Also, the BIG polishing jobs will still all be carried out by me, because until this person can hone his skills, he'll be doing 1-step polishing only with a DA.

My questions >>

1. The "investor" will be investing money only. All the training, managing, etc. will all be my responsibility. Into what percentages should the profit be divided?? Keep in mind, my company has been in operation for more than 2 years and all the work thus far (corporate identity, methods, marketing, etc.) have been done by me alone. A SH1TLOAD of work IOW.

2. I'm a detailing supply distributor in HU and at the moment it's nothing big, as I haven't had time to work so much with it next to detailing. He also inquired about that and was asking if it's worth getting into and I said yes. Should I get him in on that too and do it on a much larger scale?

I guess that's the only questions I have for now, TIA for any advice! BTW my web site is www . apolloauto . hu if you'd like some more info on the company.

Lots of caddy's, bimmers and merc's. They went for it, and now I'm totally stoched!

Hello everyone,
im new to this board and was reffered here by my freind Tommy . i currently own and operate a mobile detail service. however with that said comes a new set of issues. it begins with staying consistent and or busy all the time. im someone who likes to have something to detail at all times whether it be a millwinders/ ridler caliber show car or just a client who wants their paint to pop. i currently service a few performance shops and private households along with doing paint correction from my own shop. i began this business in 2004 to carry on my passion of dealing with show cars and hot rods. but as of recently due to the economy things have become slow. enough to the point of maybe having to take on a 8-5 job. my question to you guys is what to do when it comes to approaching/cold calling new clients for business and staying busy with the ones i have already established. my current clients have been doing business with me for the fact that i provide a top notch detail at a fair price and provide them with a 48 hour gaurantee. im only at wits end with this because i like the fact that i am flexible with my appointments and will travel to pretty much anywhere to gain new clients. taking on a reg form of employment would greatly interfere with that schedule. so with that said i welcome any tips ideas and or suggestions. and thanks in advance .
