Buffer Sound Question

I tried to find the answer to this but can't seem to locate anything so here goes:

How loud are some of these buffers? For example I have a flex on the way and I live in a very quiet area. When I work on my computers and cut into the case. My neighbors all know it.

If I'm going to be in my carport for several hours working with a DA (Griots, PC, Flex) am I going to upset some of my more senior neighbors who complain about noise?
_
I'm thinking maybe the question is which is the quietest of the buffers?_

Is there such a place that I can go and rent a spot to work on my detailing (nor Cal Bay Area)?

I am using P0203 with orange LC on XP, then switching to 106FA, should i use white or gray LC?? Will the 203 finish to LSP ready?

I'm guessing there's alot of combinations, i'm just trying to not be redundant (waste product) or take too large of steps in my processes.

What is the advantage of wiping with IPA before my 845? I assume it would be necessary if i was using a sealant?

Would a glaze after the 106FA before my LSP really improve looks? My sample panel says no?

I'll get some pics on here soon, car is '06 4runner , salsa red.

Thanks guys!

I just got a Flex package deal from autogeek and I am in the process of detailing my car. So far it works great and I have been very happy with the results. I wanted to see what people use to clean their pads. I know they make various pad cleaners but before I go and shell out some more money I wanted to see if there were any other options available. How about hot water and a mild soap? Or is it just going to come down to buying another product? Thanks!

Hey all,
I've decided to cut back a little on my detailing supplies. I have more machines than I ever use anymore. So, I think the first to go will be my Cyclo. I bought it from Autogeek about 9 months ago and never really had an occasion to use it much. I have a bunch of pads that haven't even been used yet that I will throw in for free.

$200

any takers?

Quick question- new Rav4

Ok it's not NEW... it's about a year old. My wife's 2008 black Rav4 is in need of some love.
It has three places with some shallow scratches. One is from our border collie trying to see in the window from the outside, one is a pigtail across the rear quarter, one is where I initially thought it got keyed then my wife told me she drove through a bush... sigh.

So... I'm a noob to this stuff but I have a PC and I have used it a little bit but I wanted a little reassurance/input before I tackled my wife's shiny new ride. I know I need to start with the least aggressive setup possible. What I'd like to know is if any of you have worked on late model toyotas... is it a thick and/or hard clearcoat? Is it something that is going to be forgiving or something that I need to be super delicate with? Any thoughts or input?

Hello,

I'm interested in using my rotary polisher on my windshield. I have never done this before.

Can I polish a windshield or any other glass on my car with, oh.. let's say, Menzerna Super Finish & a LC white compounding pad, just like I would to paint?

I'm aware that there are dedicated glass polishes, but I wonder if a paint polish would be fine.

Has anybody done this without any negative effects?

I'm familiar with two and three step corrections, but have not done a one step yet. I'm doing a car for a friend that just wants his car to shine...no correction wanted. The victim is a silver 10 year old A6. I'm thinking 205/white pad/Flex DA. Any suggestions?

i was wondering if any people here have ever used and extension for their polishing, compounding, or waxing. At times you need some additional space to maneuver around that side mirror or those rails on top of that roof. i was reading some of these threads and read that some members were making some extensions for their machines. well i have made some and want to offer them here to members. prices and pictures are in the classifieds. if you have any question just let me know.

Hey everyone, I wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I have been a detailing nut ever since my first car and I have also been custom painting since then also. I recently been wanting to bring my detailing to the next level of quality.
After all my work I will wet sand, buff, polish, and glaze (all 3m) with my Dewalt buffer and foam pads (white, black, and blue). I've noticed that almost everyone uses a smaller polisher like the PC.
I recently started to clean up my car that I bought very cheap to drive to work and back. Its a 97, black, and in very bad condition. :chuckle: I've been just doing my usual sand, buff, polish to it one panel at a time and it's been working out pretty good.
I was thinking about getting a PC, but if the buffer I have now works, do I really need it to detail factory clear?
I've been searching the site a lot and it seems to be a very informative site with a good group of people. Thanks

Chemical Guys Polishes?

So pretty much everything I use anymore is CGs stuff... its been a while since I actually buffed (2yrs+), but I used to use Optimum and liked it, but I don't have any more now and would like to change to CGs brand polish... I don't have any experience with their polishes, but love pretty much everything else, so figure I might as well change over since its cheaper and easier just to use all the same...

So people with experience with both brands... what is most like Optimum Polish and Compound? As far as workability and cut...

Oh and if it matters... I'm switchin from my PC (which I lost) to a rotary... always liked rotaries more, but never had the cash to spend on one...

Thanks!
