How you can blow 12 grand in a WRX

I detailed a car for a guy this morning... '02 WRX (got early.. like in march last year). Had some swirls.. came out good...

You can see the rims... which were amazing. The guy also had a larger turbo, all the gagues and everything, improved fuel system, STI suspension.. and probably a whole lot other stuff.

After the detail i told him i needed to go for a ride to see if the wax would stay on... he was more than happy. We hit the highway going about 60.... then he boosted that sucker (23 pounds i think he said) and that thing haulled.... i was stuned (and kicked back into my seat). We were over 110 like it was nothing. Then he hit the brakes (upgraded kit.. if you look at the pic you can see how big they are, he has to use those rims to get enough clearence for the breaks) and we were down to 60 again. He showed it off a few more times like in 2nd in traffic.. Man those are nice... upgraded they are even more so.. He says he's close to getting 12's with it (not bad for 5280 ft above sea level). Those things can handle too.. he did a slightly curved 90 degree turn going 65 (i thought doing that at 40 in my civic was cool).. car held like it was glued to the road. Simply amazing...

"The Beauty of All-Wheel Drive . . ."

There's a guy here in Omaha with one of the limited edition 2002 Blaze Yellow WRXes, and he's poured quite a bit into his as well: massive Willwood 6-pot brakes up front, bigger turbo, fueling, Unichip, Cusco coil-overs, turbo-back exhaust, 17" rims with Falken Azenis, and probably a few other toys I'm forgetting. A 2.2 mile road track recently opened up about 35 miles from Omaha, and he's prepped his car for some serious "hobbyist" road racing. Now if I could just get him to let me work on his swirled-up paint . . .
