Also, I've heard lambo doors that sound like crap when they are closed. Not an alignment issue or anything like that, it's just the entire door rattles and has an unappealing clunk when it is closed. That is another thing to consider. I would look into perfomance mods and such more than lambo doors which serve no purpose whatsoever. Also, I just graduated high school, so I know what you are going for.
My advice is be careful with your money. Once you are out, no one cares what you drove and the only one who really knows is you once you are looking at the money you could have had but wasted. Trust me, I have a stereo system in my Jeep to prove it. Of course, that's my "opininn" and it doesn't matter to you.

Let's be honest... with every 10 people that see you with those lambo doors, 5 will physically point and laugh. It's that ridiculous.
Yeah, I've been watching this thread for a while but have withdrawn to comment because I don't want to sound like a bratty high school kid. I'm not and this is MY opinion. I've been around the car show scene for quite a while. The ONLY reason to get lambo doors installed on your car are to win points and national concourse events. It also is one of the last things these guys install on their cars. Just because it gets them points and the majority of them don't even like them.
Don't do it. Don't bash people for disagreeing with your opinion because it is all valid. It's a terrible idea and everyone will laugh at you.

anyway back to the thread, if i did install verts on my vet i would probably only use them at a car show, of which i attend many via my club. you've all got me rethinking that now. thanks for your input.

I cannot speak for the particular ones being considered....but in every case I have seen there needs to be serious mods to the rest of the door jamb, hinges cut, etc...all of which would be expensive to fix back to "stock" should you decide they aren't what you want after all.
Plus, the insurance companies may have something to say about a modification that technically changes the way the car protects it's occupants in a collision. You may find out the hard way that you would be responsible.
In the end...do as you like. I only post my thoughts as items that maybe should be considered before going with this install.

With that kind of money, I'd rather get a decent set of wheels and ultra high performance tires.

I just don't think they are practical on daily drivers -- especially considering the cost. Unless the Neon, Civic, Cobalt is a show car, it would be best to spend the money elsewhere.

It's probably not the sort of thing a young person immediately considers, but losing a multi-million $ lawsuit isn't something you'd get over in just a few years. And that's just the financial end of it if somebody *else* gets injured, there's always your own safety to consider (and yeah, I *do* remember being young and immortal ).

And, on a Cobalt...well, no offence, but that is just laughable, seriously, I would laugh out loud if I saw something like that. And, then it would get posted on the internet somewhere so that everyone else could laugh too. You just don't want that. Some things just do not go together.
I can think of a million ways to better waste money than trying to make a Cobalt look like an exotic. Put a nice system in there, rims/tires, navigation, etc etc... Make the car look/sound tactful and sporty, that will gain the right kind of attention.

What most people who put vert doors on don't realize is that everyone else is laughing at them. I am a mod/contributing writer/founding member/occasional staff photographer/business consultant on ShowTruckScene.com where we cover most (if not all) truck shows in the California, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Louisiana areas and its pretty widely accepted in the show truck community that lambo doors are a joke.
In the end it is your dime so do what makes you happy, but ask yourself one thing before you spend the $$$ -
Are you doing it b/c you like it or b/c everyone else is doing it?
IMO suicide doors are much more original, cleaner looking, and cost far less while not sacrificing any practicality if the car is daily driven... just a suggestion.

Excellent suggestion on the suicide doors. I've also seen some guys with combination doors that either open normally or scissor-style.
