Wheel damage... how to repair ?

Hi Folks,

To my great dismay I just noticed that one of my mags wheels on my passat '02 is scratched.

Link to previous picture of my mags on this site:

Not sure if i did it or someone I left car with. Regardless I must fix it now.

Here is a pic of the scratch.

Is this fixable ? as it looks like a light sidewalk brush

Thanks
John

Re: Wheel damage... how to repair ?

I read a guide on a wheel repair that as I recall used bondo to fill the gouge, primer, wheel paint then wetsand and polish to blend. Maybe someone will have a link as the results were excellent. I've not done it myself and I don't know if the guide was on this site or not.

Re: Wheel damage... how to repair ?

It should be possible to repair that. The only concern I'd have is finding the correct color match.

Could be worth ringing VW and see if they know ?

Another thing I'd think about doing (which I done with my Lexus) is to contact VW and ask them for the contact details of the people who do the wheel refurbishments as you need to ask them a couple of questions about the work they have (ahem) ALREADY done.
Hopefully the dizzy blonde reception will give you their number (like the Lexus one did for me) and you can go straight to the professional refurbisher and cut out the VW middle-man extra charges

I would say, unfortunately yes (if you want it perfect). But you may be able to find a mobile refurbisher who can make an amazing job by simply touching in those areas. It's surprising what some off these guys can do.

It's just gonna be a matter of picking up the Yellow Pages and ringing local mobiles, unless anybody can come up with other suggestions/tips
