Need advice on suspension parts for Xterra

My wife has a 2001 Xterra that I would like to soften the ride on.I do not know a whole lot about suspensions and was wandering if any of you guy and gals could help me out a little.Would shocks alone help alot?I went to a couple of Xterra sites but they all seem to argue to much and I did not want to post on a site like that.Any help, advice would be great Thanks

Shocks and springs will be most effective but I don't think the changes will be dramatic. The Xterra just wasn't designed to give a smooth ride. I had an Infiniti QX4 and the ride difference between the two was significant. Maybe look into what shocks and spring rates are used in that truck and copy them.
