Tire compressor/pump

What tire pump/compressor can someone suggest? I want one that I can use for emergencies or occasional use. I would like to add pressure when they are low. I don't have a garage so it must be self contained or 12v. power. Any brands and stores where you can get them would be great, if you remember

Whatever you do, stay away from those cheesy, plastic “emergency compressors” you see everywhere. They usually display their supposed max pressure proudly but don’t mention flow rate. If you’re lucky they’ll get 5psi in a real world car tire before they break.

The best source for info on 12V air compressors that actually work are your local 4x4 enthusiasts and suppliers. They’re the guys who really use them.

Name brand companies like QuickAir, ARB or ExtremeAire make great products but be prepared to pay for quality.

For occasional, non-extreme use a decent knock-off should be fine. Here’s a review of an offshore compressor that the guys on one random offroader forum I found were pretty happy with.

I've got a rechargable Campbell Hausfeld that I really like. Think it was about $40, probably use it about once every two months on a couple of cars and I have to recharge the battery twice a year. Not the fastest thing around, but smaller than a shoebox and has worked for me for about 3 years. I wouldn't trust the gague on it though.

go to walmart & get a 5 gallon air tank about $20-$30
just fill it @ the local gas station and it is there when you need it

p.s it dead quit, cheaper and and faster than any small compressor you will find

Thanks for the suggestions, I went to pep boys today but did not see anything like what I wanted. At this point I am not sure what I want . The one compressor looks promising. I have seen the storage tanks in stores and did not know if they would work for what I want? Can you fill a tire with them more than once with out a "refill" Do they hold pressure? I will stop in a few places to see what they offer.

yes I keep mine charged to 100 psi (don't worry they have a over pressure valve
set to 120, I think)

if you are using it to top off your tires , it will last quit a long time

if you are filling an empty tire, maybe only three before a refill(depending on the size)

trust me this is the way to go, get yourself a good tire gauge to go with it
