Ragtop Virgin - Need Advice on Care for Top

I just bought my first convertible, an '88 LeBaron - hey, the price was right! Any advice on how to care properly for the vinyl top is greatly appreciated. I have one rip (about 7 inches, repair advice is great too!)

Re: Ragtop Virgin - Need Advice on Care for Top

I have some advice with regards to Wrangler rag tops.....Don't off-road with them on. You think that you won't tear the rag top but somehow it always happens . Even the smallest branches can do damage you would be surprised. However, I don't think that you are going to be taking your LeBaron off-roading so that should be a problem! ( I realize that I was no help)

Re: Ragtop Virgin - Need Advice on Care for Top

Hey, congrats on your new purchase! My first convertible was a 90 LeBaron and I loved that car! I had problems with mold growing on my top since it was parked outside 24/7. At the time I used Dawn and a soft brush to clean it off... Looked good as new too. That was in pre-Autopian days, so I'm not sure I'd suggest Dawn. You might try Raggtop brand cleaner and a soft brush, that's what I use now on my convertible Vette. You'll find everything you need here:
